DALLAS, Dec. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tidelands Royalty Trust "B" (OTC BB: TIRTZ) ("Tidelands") today declared a quarterly cash distribution to the holders of its units of beneficial interest of $0.110623 per unit, payable on January 14, 2014, to unitholders of record on December 31, 2013. Tidelands' cash distribution history, current and prior year financial reports and tax information, a link to filings made with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and more can be found on its website at www.tirtz-tidelandsroyaltytrust.com/.
The distribution this quarter increased to $0.110623 per unit from $0.084767 per unit last quarter. Royalties received this quarter as compared to the last quarter increased due to increased oil and natural gas production and increased oil prices; natural gas prices remained virtually unchanged.
Tidelands' distributions to unitholders are determined by royalties received up to the date the distribution amount is declared. In general, Tidelands receives royalties two months after oil production and three months after natural gas production.

DALLAS, Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tidelands Royalty Trust "B" (OTC BB: TIRTZ) ("Tidelands" or the "Trust") announced today that Bank of America, N.A. also known as U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management ("Trustee" or "Bank of America") will be resigning as Corporate Trustee of the Trust subject to the conditions set forth below. Bank of America intends to nominate Southwest Bank, an independent state bank chartered under the laws of the State of Texas and headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas ("Southwest Bank"), as successor corporate trustee at a special meeting of unitholders of the Trust to be called for the purpose of approving a successor corporate trustee of the Trust (the "Special Meeting"). All unitholders of record as of the record date for the Special Meeting will receive a notice of Special Meeting and proxy materials detailing the matters to be voted on at the Special Meeting, as well as the time and location of the Special Meeting.
Bank of America's resignation is conditioned on the satisfaction or waiver by Bank of America of the following:
The appointment of Southwest Bank as trustee of Sabine Royalty Trust (another royalty trust for which Bank of America currently serves as trustee).
The appointment of Southwest Bank or another successor trustee as trustee of the Trust and five other royalty trusts for which Bank of America currently serves as trustee and as agent under a disbursing arrangement for which Bank of America currently serves as agent.
The accuracy of certain representations and warranties and performance of certain agreements made by Southwest Bank in an agreement between Bank of America and Southwest Bank.
No governmental injunction, order or other action that would prohibit Southwest Bank's appointment, Bank of America's resignation or the other actions described above.
The effective date of Bank of America's resignation shall be May 30, 2014, assuming all of the conditions described above have been satisfied or waived by Bank of America as of such date. If the conditions described above have not been satisfied or waived by Bank of America as of such date, the resignation shall be effective August 29, 2014, assuming all of the conditions described above have been satisfied or waived by Bank of America as of such date. If the resignation is not effective as of such later effective date, Bank of America will notify unitholders of the new effective date.

The Indenture provides that the term of Trust will expire on April 30, 2021, unless extended by the vote of the holders of a majority of the outstanding units of beneficial interest. The Trust was organized for the sole purpose of providing an efficient, orderly and practical means for the administration and liquidation of rights to interests in certain oil, natural gas or other mineral leases obtained by Gulf Oil Corporation ("Gulf") in a designated area of the Gulf of Mexico. These rights are evidenced by a contract between the Trust's predecessors and Gulf dated April 30, 1951 (the "1951 Contract"), which is binding upon the assignees of Gulf. As a result of various transactions that have occurred since 1951, the Gulf interests that were subject to the 1951 Contract now are held by Chevron U.S.A., Inc. ("Chevron"), which is a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, Elf Exploration, Inc. ("Elf") and their respective assignees. Tidelands Corporation, holds title to interests in properties subject to the 1951 Contract that are situated offshore of Louisiana. Ninety-five percent of all oil, natural gas, and other mineral royalties collected by Tidelands Corporation, less the cost of receiving and collecting, are paid to the Trust. Approximately 12 percent of Tidelands royalty revenues are attributable to oil and approximately 88 percent are attributable to natural gas. The distribution this quarter decreased to $0.101635 per unit from $0.110623 per unit last quarter. Royalties received this quarter as compared to the last quarter decreased due to decreased natural gas production and a decrease in oil prices, which were partially offset by an increase in oil production and a slight increase in natural gas prices.
Tidelands' distributions to unitholders are determined by royalties received up to the date the distribution amount is declared. In general, Tidelands receives royalties two months after oil production and three months after natural gas production.
As previously disclosed, U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management has announced its intention to resign as trustee of the Trust, subject to certain conditions set forth in the trustee's notice dated January 9, 2014, including unitholder approval of a successor trustee.
