Viber, one of the leading mobile communications platforms offering free messaging and HD-quality phone calls, expects to reach double-/triple-digit growth in Myanmar, a company official says.

Crystal Lee, Viber's Country Manager in the Philippines, told Myanmar Eleven during a sideline of its first media event held in Yangon on Wednesday that Viber has reached 5 million registered users in the country and hopes to attract many more users thanks to its strong, reliable products.
Viber’s popularity in Myanmar is also confirmed by independent research and a recent social media survey. According to OnDevice’s research published in June, Viber is the number one chat application in Myanmar with 79 per cent of Myanmar users actively engaging with the messaging and voice application. This data shows Viber overtaking Facebook and other mobile messaging competitors in the country.

How Rakuten Pay came to dominate the contactless payments market in Japan

The global messaging market is growing. Online research portal Statista forecasts the number of users communicating via dedicated apps will reach 2 billion in 2018, up from 1 billion in 2014.

Chief Executive Officer Djamel Agaoua plans to roll out in March a new version of the app, which will function more like a platform than a single-purpose app with features that will eventually include e-commerce and banking. Users will be able to open a chat window with friends, look at restaurants, decide where to go, and make a reservation -- all without exiting Viber. Payment through the app is planned, but won't be part of the initial rollout, he added.

Austrian banking group Addiko has unveiled chat banking for its customers – the “first ever” Viber-based financial transaction service available in Croatia.

Called “Addiko Chat Banking”, it’s a digital banking service that, in partnership with Comtrade Digital Services and communication platform Viber, enables customers to directly communicate with the bank and make payments.

Mario Žižek, Addiko Bank Croatia CEO, says clients are asking for “modern services that make their daily finances easier, faster, more practical and available at all times” and its chat banking “does exactly that, it allows our clients to instantly send and transfer money”.

Expedia Inc’s HomeAway has signed a partnership with ecommerce giant Rakuten as the home rentals sector in Japan bursts into life.

HomeAway will start selling inventory from “Rakuten Lifull Stay”, a partnership between Rakuten and housing and real estate information service Lifull which was only announced a few weeks ago.
The scale and ambition of Rakuten Lifull Stay is outlined in its announcement. Rakuten has more than 90 million members in Japan while Lifull lists some with 8 million properties and has a network of more than 22,000 affiliated real estate stores.

While a lot of Lifull’s business is renting homes and flats to “locals” rather than inbound or domestic tourists, the potential of vacation rental in Japan is significant, driven by a government which has identified tourism as a growth area. It wants 40 million visitors

In Alibaba and Amazon’s shadow, Japanese Rakuten Ichiba is quickly developing. Several Western chains are using the platform to sell their products to Japanese online consumers.

Profitable
Rakuten Ichiba (loosely translaed into “Optimist”, what's in a name?) has been around for twenty years, three years Amazon’s junior, but still two years older than Alibaba. It would do it justice to just label it as an internet retailer: it allows current retailers to attract Japanese online consumers and foreign online shoppers can order Japanese products through Rakuten. However, the company has more than this gateway: it is active in plenty of industries, including banking, trael, messaging, e-books and more.

Over the course of the past twenty years, the owner and founder Hiroshi Mikitani turned Rakuten, with the help of some 14,000 employees, into a company with a 7.2 billion dollar annual turnover and a 350 million dollar profit. An online retailer with profit seems like an anomaly. Nevertheless, a sizeable portion of its profit comes from abroad: ever since it decided to spread its wings in 2005, it acquired several local platforms, including Buy.com (United States), Tradoria (Germany) and PriceMinister (France).

Die Aktie ist in Japan an ihre Grenzen gestoßen, ob das Unternehmen wesentliche neue Märkte wie z.B. den in Deutschland für sich erobern kann ist längst nicht klar. Der Kurs kann um 10 - 15 % steigen, genauso gut aber auch weiiter abrutschen. Eine Unterbewertung sehe ich nicht und du lieferst inall deinen Postings leider keine Zahlen die etwas anderes belegen.
