After Wednesday's Bell Market Commentary
On Wednesday, investors cheered by the Federal Reserve's assessment that the economy was expanding at a moderate or steady pace, with few inflationary pressures lifted the markets to a higher close. The S&P 500 breaching the 1,300 mark for the first time since May 2001. U.S. crude inventories rose for a fifth week in a row. The April contract ended down 93 cents at $62.17 a barrel. The Dow rose 58.43, or 0.52 percent, to 11,209.77. The Nasdaq rose 15.94, or 0.69 percent, to 2,311.84. The S&P 500 index rose 5.54, or 0.43 percent, to 1,303.02. The Russell 2000 index rose 6.84, or 0.93 percent, to 742.94.
