The Kouga renewable energy project – renewable, sustainable and community owned
13 March 2012
The R2bn Red Cap Kouga wind farm project at Oyster Bay in the Eastern Cape is expected to go into operation during the second quarter of 2014 and inject in excess of R250 million into projects that will directly benefit members of historically disadvantaged communities in the region.
The wind farm, which in December 2011 was named as one of the preferred bidders in the Government’s independent power producer procurement programme, will generate 80MW of power and the first phase will consist of 32 turbines close to Oyster Bay.
The Kouga Municipality’s Standing Committee on Infrastructure Planning and Development will meet on Thursday 15 March 2012 to consider Red Cap’s application to rezone the areas on which the turbines will be erected….
The German turbine manufacturer Nordex is employed to provide the 2.5MW turbines….“The Red Cap Kouga wind farm is the first step in developing a substantial proudly South African renewable energy portfolio,” says Tanton.

hmm wer das wohl errichtet? Durchmesser des Rotors passt ja nicht zu Nordex?...wer hat noch alles 2,4 MW Anlagen im Angebot?
The first project "Dorper" comprises 40 N100s and is to be assembled in the interior of the country at an altitude of around 1,700 m. "Kouga" is the name of the second wind farm, which is to be built near the coast not far from Port Elizabeth and entails 32 N90s. Both contracts are turnkey projects. First of all, however, the term sheets must be finalised. Given the time-consuming infrastructure work, assembly work will not commence until mid-2013, with the projects to be handed over to the customer in early 2014.
Ich denke wir dürfen gespannt sein?.)...Vestas wird wohl auch an anderer Stelle als möglicher Lieferant genannt...aber haben die eine 2,4MW Anlagen?...)

BASIC ASSESSMENT REPORT
Revised layout, as amended in September 2011
Plan 8 Infinite Energy (Pty) Ltd (Plan 8) proposes to construct a wind energy facility, consisting of eight wind turbine generators (turbines), to generate approximately 19.2 Megawatts (MW) on Remainder Oliphant's River Settlement Farm no. 629, near Koekenaap in the Western Cape (see Figure 1).
Each turbine is rated at between 2.4 MW and 2.5 MW, however each turbine‟s output would be capped therefore the proposed wind energy facility would consist of eight turbines, producing a total of 19.2 MW.
Plan 8 considered the above factors and proposed that the Nordex N117 2.4 MW and N100 2.5 MW be used, as these would obtain the greatest efficiencies on site. aurecon.webfoundryza.com/assets/files/...7086_DBAR_Nov2011.pdf
...verzichtet einfach auf die Erwähnung von Nordex bei einem weiteren Projekt
January 2012 - Plan8 (Pty) Ltd, a renewable energy company, plans to develop a wind powered electricity generation facility (known as a „wind farm‟) approximately 30km outside of Grahamstown along the N2 in an easterly direction towards East London, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The proposed site is on the farms Gilead, Tower Hill and Peynes Kraal, situated approximately 30km east of Grahamstown. The proposed wind farm is planned to comprise up to a maximum of 27 turbines, each with a nominal power output ranging between 2 and 3 MW (megawatts). The total potential generating capacity of the wind farm will be approximately 67.5 MW, and will feed power into the national electricity grid.

Mapping the Wind
Emergent Energy has installed and commissioned numerous meteorological towers, including a recently erected 80m NRG tower near Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. The tower, erected for the French (.))wind turbine manufacturer and developer Nordex, gathers detailed wind, temperature and pressure data over an extended period, allowing detailed mapping of the local wind resource, and enabling high performance design of a local wind farm.

Schurkengöttin Flora - Semper Augustus - meingott gibt?
anno 1636/37

New effort underway in US Senate to extend wind industry tax credit..
The move comes two days after majority Democrats failed to add an amendment to a Senate transportation bill that would have included a one-year PTC extension. After a largely party-line vote, several Republicans expressed support for the PTC, saying that the earlier amendment was unacceptable to them because it also sought federal support for biodiesel and other provisions…The bill will need 60 votes in the 100-seat Senate to pass. Democrats hold a 51-47 edge over Republicans with two seats held by independents that generally vote with Democrats…

Despite Negative Press Renewable Energy Revenues Rapidly Expand in 2011
By Juan Cole | Sun, 18 March 2012 14:24
Solar, wind and biofuels saw global revenue expand by 31% in 2011. With all the negative hype put out by Big Oil and its acolytes, you’d have thought the green energy market had crashed rather than growing by a third.
But investment in green energy rose only 5% over the year, which tells me that somebody is making a lot of money and others are losing out. Green Tech Media reports,...
