Expanded Relationship Marks Critical Step in
SmartForce e-Business Enablement Initiative
SmartForce (Nasdaq:SMTF), the e-Learning company, and BroadVision(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:BVSN), the leading supplier of personalized e-Business applications, announced today that they will co-develop e-Learning content covering BroadVision One-To-One(TM) applications that will be integrated into SmartForce's e-Business enablement solutions. The companies will develop a portfolio of e-Learning events to help customers and partners currently using BroadVision applications as part of their mission-critical e-Business initiatives. This portfolio will be comprised of a comprehensive e-Learning offering, including conceptual and instructional events, a wide range of collaborative events and simulations of the BroadVision environment.
The e-Learning offerings created through the BroadVision/SmartForce collaboration will provide a critical learning resource for customers and partners using BroadVision applications for their e-Business strategies.
The agreement marks an expansion of the companies' relationship, which began with SmartForce's use of BroadVision technology to power the company's personalized e-Learning environment. SmartForce will market the solutions through its sales force to its global customer base of over 2,500 large corporate customers as well as through its reseller network. In addition, the relationship will allow BroadVision to market and sell the co-developed solutions, as well as other selected SmartForce offerings.
The co-developed offerings will be a key component of SmartForce's e-Business enablement initiative, launched earlier this year (see April 11 release). Providing a comprehensive foundation for running an e-Business, the new offerings will help companies create the infrastructure they need to power their Internet strategies as well as migrate their entire range of business processes to the Internet.
SmartForce e-Learning is a powerful e-Learning infrastructure that combines formal instruction with collaboration, practice and simulations, testing and assessment, and state-of-the-art learning management functionality. Because individuals and enterprises have varying training needs, this next generation e-Learning solution goes beyond mere online courses to allow enterprises to implement learning solutions that are tailored to enterprise business goals. These solutions can be personalized for the individual and customized for the enterprise, resulting in a learning environment that can be targeted to each enterprise's critical business requirements and to each individual's learning needs.
"SmartForce has a commitment to giving enterprises and individuals the tools to build their capabilities to compete and prosper in the Internet economy," said Greg Priest, president and CEO of SmartForce. "BroadVision has a powerful market position in providing the infrastructure on which enterprises are building their e-Business capabilities. We are pleased to be partnering with BroadVision to now enable companies worldwide to learn how they can employ BroadVision technology for their e-Business processes."
"The shared vision of adapting learning to the needs of individuals and enterprises has made BroadVision and SmartForce natural partners," said Nancy Mills, WPSO executive vice president and general manager of BroadVision. "Built using BroadVision One-To-One applications, the SmartForce e-Learning platform continues to provide individual learners with a high degree of personalization and, equally, provides the enterprise with a high degree of customization. We believe that this partnership will help enterprises reach the full potential of the Internet."
