BURR RIDGE, Ill., Apr 12, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Nanophase Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq:NANX), a leader in nanomaterials and nanoengineered products, participated in the Advanced Technology Program's 10th Anniversary Technology Showcase in Washington, D.C. on April 5, 2000. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Nanophase was selected to provide "an example of the benefits of public-private partnerships in high-risk research through this program, managed by the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology."
The company's participation was based on its successful completion of a three-year program from 1993 to 1995 to develop and commercialize its Physical Vapor Synthesis process for producing nanocrystalline materials. Nanophase, represented by Dr. Richard Siegel, a member of the company's board of directors, exhibited its technology to the media and selected members of Congress in the Russell Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.
As previously announced, Nanophase also presented a talk and chaired a workgroup at the recently held "Commercialization of Nanostructured Materials" conference in Miami, Florida on April 7th. The presentation, entitled "Commercial-Scale Nanoparticle Production," was co-authored by Dr. Richard Brotzman, vice president of research and Dr. D. J. Freed, vice president of business development.
