Dow Jones unter psychologisch wichtiger Marke
Obwohl der Technologie lastige Nasdaq mit 2,8% oder 51 Punkten gegenüber dem Dow Jones mit einem Rückgang von 1,7% stärker fiel, ist der Fall des Dow Jones unter die psychologisch wichtige Marke bei 10.000 Punkten das Gesprächsthema. Das letzte Mal notierte der Dow, der in den letzten drei Handelssitzungen jeweils über 100 Punkte verlor, Anfang April unterhalb 10.000 Punkte. Negative Stimmung verbreitete vor allem die Gewinnwarung von Sun Micrososystems und die negativen Wirtschaftsdaten zu den Konsumentenausgaben. Die wenigen Gewinner im Dow waren Coca Cola, McDonalds, Procter & Gamble und Philip Morris. Im Technologie Bereich gehörten die Sektoren Netzwerk, Fiber Optic, Internet und Hardware zu den grössten Verlierern. Die Verlierer Aktien überstiegen die Gewinner mit 20 zu 11 an der Nyse und mit 24 zu 12 an der Nasdaq. Noch relativ gut konnten sich die BioTech Aktien halten. Der Amex Internet Index notierte unverändert.
