Nortel Networks Chooses LHS' ORYX Platform for Prepaid Services in Two African Countries
ATLANTA/BOSTON/FRANKFURT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1999--LHS Group Inc. (Nasdaq: LHSG - news; Neuer Markt: LHI) today announced that Nortel Networks has selected LHS Priority Call's ORYX® platform to deliver prepaid wireless services in two African countries. LHS Priority Call and the Wireless Division of Nortel have partnered to bring the latest generation of wireless calling services to subscribers at Telecel in Burundi and Onatel in Burkina Faso. The ORYX platform and its prepaid software application will be installed as part of a new wireless network being deployed in Burundi. Prepaid calling services will be available to about 20,000 Burundi subscribers when the service is activated by year's end. Onatel also is expanding its current Nortel GSM network and will offer prepaid wireless services to over 10,000 subscribers.
