von minus 6,7% an der Nasdaq 100 ist nicht nur ein technischer Rebound oder der 1Cent weniger bei Compaq, sondern auch-wie sollte es anders sein-mal wieder die Analysten!
Diesmal Merril Lynch wieder und Lehmann Brothers: A Merrill Lynch & Co. analyst lowered ratings on Intel and other chip shares, saying their rally of as much as 48 percent this month made them too expensive because a quick recovery in the semiconductor industry is unlikely.
Oracle dropped as Lehman Brothers Inc. said the slowing economy could result in lower-than-forecast sales and profits this quarter
Intel, which lost $2.11 to $30.32, appears to be losing ground to its smaller rival in the personal computer microprocessor business, Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Merrill analyst Joe Osha said in a note to clients.
Osha, who cut Intel to near-term ``neutral'' from ``accumulate,'' also said he sees no evidence of a recovery in demand for chips
The makers of communications chips also have risen too fast, he said. Osha cut his near-term rating on three of them -- Applied Micro Circuits Corp., PMC-Sierra Inc. and Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. to ``neutral'' from ``accumulate.''
Applied Micro lost $4.48 to $25.52, PMC-Sierra fell $6.05 to $38.76 and Vitesse slipped $2.33 to $32.44.
Oracle fell $2.60 to $17.15. Lehman's Neil Herman said sales and profit could be ``unusually weak'' in the current quarter, because of the economic slowdown. The disappointing results and forecast from Sun Microsystems Inc., whose server computers often run Oracle software, add to the concerns, Herman said.
He cut the stock to ``buy'' from ``strong buy.''
