Sainsbury's: Some food shortages possible in UK
There may be shortages of some products in the United Kingdom as a result of the recently announced border closures, a spokesperson for Sainsbury's said on Monday.
The supermarket stressed they are currently seeking alternatives to products that are normally shipped from Europe, but that there may be some gaps in the supply of lettuce, some salad leaves, cauliflowers, broccoli and citrus fruit.
Earlier, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Austria and Belgium closed borders to travel from the UK after a new strain of the coronavirus was detected by British scientists.
