Wal-Mart's June Comps Up 2.7%

Wal-Mart (WMT:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis) posted a 2.7% jump in same-store sales last month, as big weather-related swings in traffic climaxed in a late surge that salvaged an otherwise weak month.
Same-store sales rose 2.4% at its flagship Wal-Mart division. They rose 4.1% at Sam's Club and 2.7% at international.
Overall sales were $24.64 billion for the five weeks to July 4, up 11.1% from the same period a year ago. Overall Sales at the Wal-Mart division were up 9.5% to $16.697 billion; overall sales at Sam's Club were up 8% to $3.380 billion; while overall sales in its international division were up 20.3% to $4.559 billion.
For July, the parent expects same-store sales to rise at the high end of a 2% to 4% range.
The shares haven't done appreciable volume in premarket trading. The closed Wednesday at $55.76, down 94 cents, or 1.7%.
