Fonix (FONX) , which trades on the OTC bulletin board, is rallying 4 cents, or approximately 84 percent, to 9 cents on
volume of more than 12 million shares. On an average day, the stock sees about 7 million shares change hands. The
company said it has signed a license agreement with Microsoft (MSFT) with automatic speech recognition (ASR)
technology for Microsoft's XBox game console. Fonix will begin shipping English ASR for game developers in the
second half of 2002. The company will also provide U.K. English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and
Spanish ASR during the remainder of the year. The technology will allow developers to create games that recognize the
user's voice, allowing users direct on-screen action, input information and interact verbally with their games. Microsoft is slipping 46 cents to $62.08.
