Henan health authorities announced they will conduct HIV test on over 1.01 million people in 2005. Xinhua News Agency reported Henan health officials will provide free HIV-test to more than 630,000 people in 18 cities this year, including pregnant women, former commercial blood donors and other high risk groups. In addition, health officials will conduct routine HIV-test on an estimated 380,000 local women who are scheduled to get married or give birth this year.

Zhengzhou city reported the distribution of 200,000 free condoms in hotels, entertainment establishments and “places where homosexuals meet.” Officially, Henan has 11,844 confirmed HIV/AIDS cases, 2,026 children orphaned by AIDS. Henan province has a population of 93 million people.
