Worldcom erhält 144 Mio. in bar!

Wie gestern bekannt wurde, hat die Nextel Communications Inc. der Übernahme der Internet-Mobilfunk-Assets der bankrotten WorldCom Inc. für 144 Mio. Dollar in bar zugestimmt. Damit hat der fünftgrößte US-Mobilfunkbetreiber ein Angebot der BellSouth Corp. überboten.

Der WorldCom-Konzern, die zweitgrößte US-Telefongesellschaft für Fernverbindungen und einer der weltgrößten Abwickler von Internet-Verkehr, hat für die Mobilfunk-Assets im Jahr 1999 über den Erwerb anderen Unternehmen rund 1 Mrd. Dollar gezahlt.

Wie WorldCom Anfang Mai mitteilte, hat die Telefongesellschaft BellSouth, die zusammen mit der SBC Communications Inc. den zweitgrößten US-Mobilfunkanbieter Cingular Wireless betreibt, einen Betrag von 65 Mio. Dollar für die Mobilfunk-Assets geboten.

der laden ist für die normalen aktionäre wohl schon tod, den worldcom wird dieses jahr vielleicht den gläubigerschutz verlassen.

die gläubiger wollen aber alles übernehmen, die altaktionäre bekommen evtl. noch ein paar brotkrumen, aber eher nicht.

ich würd da auf jeden fall nix mehr investieren, hab den gang von 10 euro bis 11 cent (gott sei dank wurden wenigestens die noch gerettet *g) voll mitgemacht :)

MCI WorldCom Stockholder Boycott Threat Passes 10,000 Mark

CHICAGO, Jun 30, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- A group of MCI WorldCom, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: WCOEQ, MCWEQ) stockholders has announced that it has received over 10,000 email messages supporting a possible future boycott of the 'new MCI'.
"Thousands of people apparently feel that the current bankruptcy reorganization plan is unfair," said Neal Nelson, Spokesperson for the MCI WorldCom Stockholders Group. "The U.S. Trustee and the bankruptcy judge may accept this plan but the average citizens may reject it by cancelling their MCI WorldCom service."

"The reorganization plan would transfer ownership of the 'new MCI' to the current bondholders and leave the current WorldCom and MCI stockholders with nothing," continued Nelson. "The stockholders favor an alternate plan with 50% debt reduction, where the bondholders would get 50% ownership of the new company and the current stockholders would be given 50% equity in the new firm."

"Through total domination of the bankruptcy committees, the bondholders have prevented consideration of a compromise plan," added Nelson. "The only avenue left for effective protest against this plan is to threaten a boycott of the 'new MCI'".

By sending an email, an individual would be stating that, if the WorldCom bankruptcy plan is approved in its current form, that individual would not intend to do business with the "new MCI".

haben die nicht Milliarden Schulden?gestern minus 14%!

gehen, weil sie es nicht als fair betrachten, das MCI die Schulden erlassen
bekommt. Dies wuerde einen unfairen Preiskampf starten und besonders das
angeschlagene Unternehmen AT&T (nette Kursverluste seit Januar2003) wuerde
darunter leiden. Ich bin mal gespannt wie Washington reagieren wird und ob die
Einfluss auf die SEC ausueben koennen.
