CLINTON, Miss., Mar 26, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- WorldCom today filed its January 2003 Monthly Operating Report with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. During the month of January, WorldCom recorded $2.16 billion in revenue versus $2.20 billion in December 2002 and income from continuing operations of $188 million versus a loss of $47 million in December. Net income for January was $155 million versus a net loss of $580 million in December.

January reorganization items were $37 million versus $514 million in December. During the restructuring process, certain business activities will drive one-time costs that will be recognized in the month in which they were incurred. These expenses are expected to fluctuate from month to month as the Company implements its cost reduction plans.

WorldCom ended January with $2.8 billion in cash on hand, an increase of approximately $300 million from the beginning of the month. WorldCom's capital expenditures for the month were $34 million, including $19 million for PP&E and $15 million for related software. January depreciation and amortization was $118 million.

"We still have a lot of work to do, but we are delivering on our 100-day plan," said Michael Capellas, WorldCom chairman and CEO. "Customer service continues at all time highs, we are making solid progress on our cost reduction initiatives, and we are profitable. We remain on track to emerge from Chapter 11 protection later this year."

The financial results discussed in the January 2003 Monthly Operating Report exclude the results of Embratel. Until WorldCom completes a thorough balance sheet evaluation, the Company will not issue a balance sheet or cash flow statement as part of its Monthly Operating Report.

During the month of January, WorldCom recorded $2.16 billion in revenue versus $2.20 billion in December 2002 and income from continuing operations of $188 million versus a loss of $47 million in December.

Wie das Unternehmen mitteilte, belief sich der Nettogewinn im Januar auf 155 Millionen Dollar (145 Millionen Euro). Der Umsatz lag bei 2,16 Milliarden Dollar. (AFP)

Was mich heute besonders freut, dass WCO entgegen dem Trend des Gesamtmarktes zugelegt hat, das gab es nämlich schon ewig lang nichtmehr! Ich denke, bei einer positiven NASDAQ heute wäre sicherlich mehr drin gewesen!

Der Umsatz fiel demnach von 2,2 Mrd. Dollar im Dezember 2002 auf nun 2,16 Mrd. Dollar, während ein Nettogewinn in Höhe von 155 Mio. Dollar nach einem Verlust von 580 Mio. Dollar im Vormonat erzielt werden konnte. Der Gewinn aus dem weitergeführten Geschäft lag vor Restrukturierungseffekten bei 188 Mio. Dollar. Im Dezember 2002 wurde hier noch ein entsprechender Verlust von 47 Mio. Dollar ausgewiesen. Der Konzern, dessen Bilanzskandal ein Volumen von über 9 Mrd. Dollar erreichen könnte, verfügte Ende Januar über einen Cash-Bestand von 2,8 Mrd. Dollar, was einer Steigerung um 300 Mio. Dollar zum Monatsanfang entspricht. Die Kapitalausgaben beliefen sich im ersten Monat 2003 auf 34 Mio. Dollar.

bei den news glaub ich das wir bald wieder Kurse um 0,30 - 0,40 sehen werden. Ich denke bei 0,16 werd ich noch mal nachkaufen.

WorldCom Plans to Emerge from Chapter 11 Later This Year

Michael Capellas, chief executive of WorldCom Inc. (WCOEQ), said the long- distance phone company is poised to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection later this year, as the company released partial financial results for January that showed a profit, Thursday's Wall Street Journal reported.

WorldCom has outlined a business plan to creditors and expects to have its reorganization plan ready by April 15. The company is expected to emerge with minimal debt, but shareholders will be wiped out. "We are making solid progress on our cost reduction initiatives, and we are profitable," Mr. Capellas said in a news release. "We are on track to emerge from Chapter 11 protection later this year."

WorldCom, based in Clinton, Miss., filed for bankruptcy protection in July in the wake of an accounting fraud that has ballooned to at least $9 billion. The company's revenue has been declining, and in January it slid to $2.16 billion from $2.2 billion in December. The company files monthly financial reports with the bankruptcy court, but these don't include a balance sheet and aren't as detailed as the results that most companies publish quarterly.
