Re letters...
FWIW, after the massive letter writing campaign last spring, we raised eyebrows and put people on notice that this was being watched by many and the impact on many was huge. This is feedback from an attorney I happened to sit next to at court one day, whose firm was responsible for answering a number of filed objections.
Many good points are being made here regarding letters and appropriate form, etc. Let me throw in another viewpoint. I think there are two reasons to send an objection letter to the court.
The first reason is to raise specific legal points/objections. If this is the desired outcome, then as Catz and others have pointed out, your letter will not get "heard" without cogent legal arguments, correct grammar and punctuation.
The second reason is to make noise, to be heard as an individual or group (as in the spring campaign). Even though those letters had essentially the same language, they made an impact by their sheer numbers. Here, while grammar and punctuation are important, I disagree (respecfully, of course) with Catz et al, and say, write what you feel.
Letters from individuals or groups will likely not decide the case, but they might help build momentum in one direction, or be the nagging voice the judge hears in the dark recesses of her mind.
IMO
