Die werden mir auch noch Freude bereiten, schön das Low erwischt und die Nachrichten

Jetzt ist Schluss für heute, muss ins Bett damit ich pünktlich bei der Arbeit erscheine.

Cubic Receives $32M Contract from SPAWAR for U.S. Navy's New Communications Data Link System
SAN DIEGO, Mar 19, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
San Diego-Based Team May See $92.7 Million as Options Are Exercised to
Support Network-Centric Warfare
The U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) has awarded San
Diego-based Cubic Corp. (AMEX: CUB) a $31.8 million contract for the Navy's new
Communications Data Link (CDL) System Block 1.
The CDL System Block 1 is a wideband Common Data Link for the transmission of
signal and imagery intelligence data between national/tactical reconnaissance
aircraft sensors and their associated surface ship processing systems.
Cubic will be responsible for development, manufacture, enhancement, maintenance
and system test and evaluation of the CDL systems. The five-year contract
contains options which, if exercised, would bring the total estimated cumulative
contract value to $92.7 million.
"This contract demonstrates the role that Cubic and San Diego's hi-tech
community will play in national security," said Congresswoman Susan Davis,
representative of California's 53rd district. "This is not only good for Cubic
but good for San Diego."
Cubic has formed a strong San Diego-based team, including ViaSat Inc. and AMSEC
LLC, a business partnership between SAIC and Northrop Grumman Newport News
Shipbuilding, to deliver a system utilizing state-of-the-art
"software-definable" radio, satellite antenna, and secure data technology. This
will result in significant operational improvements and life-cycle cost
reductions compared to current shipboard data link systems in use today.
"CDL will ensure distribution of tactical and national intelligence to the fleet
-- a significant capability for our naval forces," said San Diego Congressman
Randy "Duke" Cunningham, representative of the 50th congressional district, and
a member of the House Intelligence Committee. "This contract award demonstrates
yet again that San Diego leads the way in providing cutting edge technology for
the military in the 21st century. This is not only a huge win for Cubic, but a
huge win for ViaSat, AMSEC LLC and all of San Diego," he added.
"This is definitely a strategic win for us, from several points of view," said
Gerald Dinkel, president and CEO of the Cubic Defense Applications group. "It
validates our investment in developing a next-generation data link solution,
extends one of our core businesses, and takes Cubic to the next level as a U.S.
Navy system supplier. It also makes us a stronger competitor on the significant
number of other secure communications opportunities on the horizon."
For more than 40 years, Cubic has provided data links for U.S. and NATO forces.
Cubic's Surveillance and Control Data Link (SCDL) -- considered the best
anti-jam data link in the world -- is a key element of the Joint Surveillance
Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) program.
"We look forward to delivering these extremely high-speed data links for surface
ships to enhance U.S. and coalition forces' ability to deliver time critical
imagery and intelligence data in a network-centric manner," said Cubic
Communications Business Unit Senior Vice President Rick Lober. "This major award
builds on Cubic's extensive experience in digital radio and data links, and
culminates an internal R&D effort to develop wireless high speed modems that
operate at rates in excess of 250 Mbps. That's about 200 times faster than the
high speed Internet devices we now use at home."
The Cubic Defense Applications group, one of Cubic's two major segments,
provides realistic combat training systems for military forces as well as
simulation, force modernization, educational services and operations &
maintenance and manufacturing services. The group also supplies products and
systems for C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence,
Surveillance & Reconnaissance) applications, search and rescue avionics and
radio communications for military and civil markets. The corporation's other
major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic
fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities. For more
