Saphir läuft, Solar tote Hose.......Umsatz von 600-800 Mio Dollar wurde runter genommen auf 600-700 Mio Dollar, dafür etwas höhere Marge. Die Aktie steigt super, verstehe ich nur nicht ganz :-)). Falls einer den Call hört würde mich der Ausblick für Solar interessieren ob es da Überraschungen gibt oder steigende Aufträge in Zukunft, ich schätze davon hängt es ab ob sie noch weiter steigen wird.......:-))

Aug 4 (Reuters) - Solar and LED equipment maker GT Advanced Technologies Inc raised the lower end of its full-year 2014 adjusted profit forecast, citing higher gross margins for the second half of the year.

Shares of the company, which reported second-quarter results below analysts' estimates, were up 12 percent in extended trading at $15.84."They made a deal with Apple in December and there was speculation that the deliveries might be significantly delayed," Gilford Securities analyst Nimal Vallipuram said.

"It looks like there is no significant change in their relationship with Apple."....
"Sapphire material sales to Apple have low gross margins so if you reduce that then equipment sales has higher gross margin, and they (GT Advanced) are seeing pretty high demand for sapphire equipment," Pacific Crest Securities analyst Weston Twigg said.

The company also said it expects to meet certain operational targets and receive the final $139 million prepayment from Apple by the end of October 2014.

FORECAST UPBEAT

GT Advanced on Monday raised the lower end of its full-year profit forecast to 12-18 cents per share, up from the previous range of 2-18 cents. The revised forecast handily beat average analysts' expectation of 3 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

OTR Global reports GT Advanced (GTAT +0.4%) will most likely provide sapphire cover glass for the iWatch, and that IDT (IDTI +0.9%) will most likely provide wireless charging ICs.
GT's win is believed to be worth $4.50/watch. There have been varying reports (previous) on whether the company is supplying sapphire glass for the iWatch to go with its (widely reported) supply work for the iPhone 6.

"With rampant speculation around what Apple will or won’t release, we see a balanced risk reward given the information available," says Canaccord, reiterating a Hold on GT Advanced (GTAT +4.6%). Nonetheless, the firm still calls GT well-positioned to "benefit from a move to sapphire cover glass in the handset market, as well as a ramp in solar and some new technologies."

Raymond James is now expecting GT's 2014 results to be even more sharply weighted towards Q4, and says its confidence in its estimates remains "subdued."

UBS estimates 2014 sales to Apple will now be $150M below what the firm originally expected, and that full-year EPS will get a ~$0.26 boost from the backing out of $44M in costs related to GT's sapphire production ramp.

Stifel is staying positive, declaring GT's guidance still implies "continued progress with Apple with increasingly material volumes."

With Apple demanding strict secrecy from suppliers, management was predictably tight-lipped about its top client on the CC (transcript). CEO Tom Gutierrez: "I can’t speak to the volumes or the applications or the timing of Apple’s business."
Gutierrez did admit there are "exclusivity provisions" related to the Apple deal, but added the provisions aren't all-encompassing. "There are applications that we can sell into, but I am not at liberty to provide a lot of detail..."

GT Advanced generated $44.1 million from the sale of its sapphire equipment and materials while photovoltaic (PV) and polysilicon sales generated revenues of $11 million and $2.9 million respectively. The company’s largest segment, polysilicon had gross margins of 12% while the PV segments gross margins were the strongest at 45%.

GT Advanced Technology booked $75 million in orders during the quarter, of which $72 million were of its sapphire equipment. This was a strong surge sequentially as the company ended the first quarter with orders of $29 million. The ending equipment backlog of the company was of $628 million which was $19 million greater than the first quarter of 2014.

Also during the quarter, the company’s Arizona facility, which it is building to service Apple Inc. (AAPL), is almost complete and the company will soon be able to raise its production volume. Apple made a $103 million prepayment to the company during the quarter for sapphire material coming from the Arizona facility and will pay $139 million by October, contingent on target achievement.

dass angeblich Apple Sapphire nicht verwenden werde wegen Produktionsproblemen bei GTAT.Dies hat sich als falsch herusgestellt,vielmehr erwartet GTAT 76% seiner Gewinne durch Sapphire,den Rest durch Photovoltaic besonders wohl Hyperion und Merlin und nur ca 5% durch Polysilicon.
Wichtig war vor allem dass das Ziel für EPS von $0.2-0.18 auf $0.12-0.18 angehoben wurde.Ein Grund für die starke Anhebung  auf $1.50 in EPS by 2016 ist Hyperion,das es Firmen ermöglicht bis zu 20% an Produktionskosten zu sparen s.Auftrag in Katar
