IMF Delegation in Cameroon: A visit to assess impact of global financial crisis
30/03/2009 A delegation from the International Monetary Fund, IMF has been in Cameroon where they are currently working with representatives of the private and public sectors since last week.
The delegation has held a number of working sessions with representatives of the business sector, to assess the impact of the world economic crisis on Cameroon’s economic development.
Last weekend, a senior official of the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Dan Ghura, who is a member of the team, said IMF was ready to help the government of Cameroon face the impact of the global financial crisis.
Dr. Dan Ghura, who is head of Divsion at the IMF headquarters in Washington, gave the assurance at a meeting with officials of the National Employers Association, GICAM.
The team has also been meeting with managers of commercial Banks, and representatives of the Douala Stock exchange and Forest Exploitation companies.
On the second lap of their visit, the Delegation is scheduled to hold working sessions today 30th March 2009, with the Minster of Finance and Minister Economy, Planning and Regional Development in Yaounde.
