Nun überlegt mal, was das bedeutet....

Enhanced Memory Systems High-Density HSDRAM Demonstrates Top Pentium Workstation Performance Benchmarks; High-Density PC133 HSDRAM Pushes Memory Capacity To 2GB Wednesday, July 19, 2000 09:10 AM                                                                             Mail this article to a friend
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2000--Enhanced Memory Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq:RMTR, news, msgs), announced that a low-cost workstation using its high-density PC133 High-Speed SDRAM (HSDRAM) is being demonstrated at the Platform 2000 Conference in San Jose, Calif. today. This workstation reference design demonstrates that a simple Windows 2000 white-box system using a 933 MHz Pentium III, ASUS P3V4X mainboard, MicroStar MS-8809 Phantom GeForce graphics adapter, and up to 2GB of its low-latency unbuffered HSDRAM DIMM modules can beat high-end workstations using PC-100 and Direct Rambus DRAM on industry-standard CSA Labs OfficeBench 2.1 benchmarks. Enhanced Memory Systems documents the reference design and provides direct sales of high-density HSDRAM products through its websites: www.mushkin.com and www.pc133memory.com.
The HSDRAM reference design running at 800 MHz achieves 28% to 49% higher performance on the OfficeBench multitasking benchmark than similar systems using Direct Rambus DRAM and PC100 SDRAM, respectively.
"Our workstation reference design demonstrates that computer resellers and MIS organizations can assemble top performing systems using our low-latency HSDRAM," said David Bondurant, vice president of marketing for Enhanced Memory Systems. "The extra performance margin of HSDRAM allows memory expansion to 2GB using a low-cost ASUStek motherboard."
High-Performance DRAM Products
Enhanced Memory Systems is a leading specialty DRAM company. Enhanced began shipping its first low-latency enhanced DRAM (EDRAM(R)) products in 1992. Enhanced currently supplies low-latency enhanced synchronous DRAM (ESDRAM) and high-speed SDRAM (HSDRAM) products that are compatible with the industry-standard SDRAM. The ESDRAM architecture was approved as a SDRAM superset for both SDRAM and DDR SDRAM in 1998. In 1999, Enhanced entered a technology agreement with Cypress Semiconductor to develop a product for the network communications market. In May of this year, Enhanced parent company Ramtron acquired Mushkin Inc. to provide expanded e-commerce outlets for the EMS product lines.
Enhanced Memory Systems is a fabless DRAM company with manufacturing agreements with top semiconductor companies, including Infineon Technologies, which recently purchased 20% of Enhanced in exchange for its advanced memory technology and wafer capacity. Enhanced is pursuing other strategic partnerships to advance its EDRAM, ESDRAM, HSDRAM, and ESRAM technologies in the marketplace.
The Enhanced Memory Systems products serve the DRAM, specialty DRAM and fast SRAM markets, which are expected to grow to more than $47 billion by the year 2001, according to Semico, a leading semiconductor market research firm.

Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR) and its subsidiaries
design, develop, manufacture, and sell specialized high-performance
semiconductor memory devices. The company’s product line includes high-speed
dynamic random access memory (DRAM),which is used in PC components such as
motherboards, accelerator boards, and disk controllers, as well as
ferroelectric nonvolatile random access memory (FRAM), which provides
greater performance than traditional devices and can be used in power
meters, laser printers, and cable modems. DRAM components account for nearly
80% of total sales, and the company expects its higher performance ESDRAM
products to continue strong sales success.

RMTR has developed a unique and diverse line of products through extensive
research and development investments, and has pursued beneficial
development and manufacturing partnerships with such companies as IBM,
Hitachi, Siemens, and Fujitsu. The company’s customer base includes Lucent,
Motorola, and Mylex.
