Agreement to Cover Variety of L&H Information and Knowledge Management Tools
IEPER, BELGIUM and BURLINGTON, Mass. - March 13, 2000 - Lernout & Hauspie (NASDAQ: LHSP; EASDAQ: LHSP) (L&H™) ,a worldwide market leader in speech and linguistic technologies, products and services, today announced a licensing agreement with America Online (AOL) for L&H's Intelligent Content Management (ICM) tools, including spelling and grammar checking. L&H's high quality ICM tools leverage L&H's linguistic technologies to provide users with a way to enhance document searches, document management, and spell checking in a variety of applications.
The L&H™ tools will help AOL members by speeding and simplifying the viewing, rendering and browsing of information retrieved from the Internet. These L&H ICM tools include: IntelliScope® Language Recognizer, a tool that identifies more than 40 languages and codes, including HTML and XML formats; IntelliScope® Search Enhancer, an information retrieval tool that performs a morphological analysis to provide additional depth and breadth to searches; CorrectEnglish™, a tool that corrects errors commonly made by speakers of other languages when they write in English; and International ProofReader™, a proofing application that extends the automated text analysis and correction capabilities of L&H's other spell-checking systems to include a myriad of grammatical, usage, formatting and hyphenation errors.
