Jardine Fleming, Merrill Lynch put 'buy' on Legend <0992.HK>

Jardine Fleming said in a research study that share prices of Legend in the near term may be boosted by the company's inclusion in the Hang Seng Index.

It is still positive about the group's leading position and its one-stop-shop strategy.

Based on it earnings growth and strategy on both hardware and software business, it is recommended a "trading buy".

Merrill Lynch rated Legend a "long-term buy".

It expects Legend's market share to reach as high as 37 pct in 2001 due to its high potential for growth.

It estimates Legend's PC business value of $4.80-$6.30 per share and its Internet $2 per share.

Legend<0992.HK> cuts prices to keep market share

Legend has cut prices by 4-12 pct for its series of Soleil notebook computers according to sources quoted by the Hong Kong Economic Journal.

The move has apparently been made in a bid to maintain its market share for notebook computers.

However it is believed it will trigger a price war for the line.

Goldman Sachs revises up Legend
(0992-HK) earnings

After Legend has announced its first quarter earning
results, Goldman Sachs revised the company's earning
forecast upwards.

In fiscal year 2001, it has been revised from $675 million to $752 million.

In fiscal year 2002, it has been revised from $892 million to $994 million.

Based on the value per share in 2002, the P/E ratio is approximately 68 times, with a 1.7
times growth rate.

Goldman Sachs believed that Legend's share price is not high and will grow with a
premium.

There is a much room for Legend's development in providing Internet services for small
and medium sized enterprises.

It is therefore rated "recommend".

BNP also revised upwards Legend's earning forecast in 2001 by 19 pct to $769 million
and in 2002 by 25 pct to $1.06 billion.

It rates it as "market performer".
