InfoSpace, Inc. (INSP-$40 9/16-Cap $10.5B-Buy) Todd Raker, 212-325-7156
Notes from InfoSpace Analyst Day 2000E: ($0.08), 2001E: $0.07
· Concurrent with its first ever analyst day, Infospace announced that SBC has
agreed to deploy its mobile commerce platform, the second carrier to do so
following AT&T. Management indicated that four additional customers will soon
follow these two. We expect transaction revenues to become significant no earlier
than the middle of 2001.
· InfoSpace also announced a new customer in Europe, Virgin Mobile, and a new
distribution partner, Nortel Networks. This agreement allows InfoSpace to rapidly
enter the emerging 2.5G and 3G broadband wireless opportunities beginning in
Europe.
· Management demonstrated several new technologies including consumer-to-consumer
financial services payments, location-based services and proprietary
voice recognition capabilities.
· Management discussed the synergies of the recent Go2Net acquisition (expected
to close on October 12), committed to providing wireless subscriber count
guidance by the end of the calendar year and provided guidance for the combined
companies. Third quarter
results will be reported for the combined
companies - we will be distributing an
updated model shortly.
· We expect near term catalysts to include
cross-selling of broadband DSL
infrastructure services to existing carrier
customers, broadband PC customer
announcements and 3G wireless rollouts
with Nortel in the 4rth quarter.
