Intelect Wins Over $1 Million Order for Optical Networking Equipment
Intelect's Optical Access Products to Be Deployed for Broadband Data Services At Major International Airport
RICHARDSON, Texas, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelect Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOM), a leader in intelligent optical
networking solutions, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Intelect Network Technologies, has received a contract
valued in excess of $1 million from Telsource Corporation to supply Intelect's OmniLYNX products for the Metropolitan Airports
Commission network project at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. OmniLYNX networking equipment will be installed to provide an
OC-12 optical networking backbone for broadband services.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport project will incorporate 20 nodes of Intelect's OL-600 with V.24/RS232, V.11/RS-422, RS-449,
T1, voice, Ethernet and video modules in addition to Intelect's Network Management System, OmniMANAGER. The OL-600 will
allow the airport to carry an optimal number of media protocols connecting multiple terminals and facilities. This optical network
will incorporate multiple LANs, information postings on arrival/departure monitors, phones, public address, security and
emergency service functions, and video surveillance and control systems.
"Intelect's equipment provides the bandwidth and level of service required to exceed our customer's customer or end-user
expectations for voice, video and data broadband bundled services in one package," says Bill Barnett, president of Intelect
Network Technologies. "By offering a wide variety of protocols in a single platform, OmniLYNX is ideal for both public and private
networks. In this case, for the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport the OL-600 platform will provide the smallest footprint
with the largest number of services for expanding converged networks."
"Based on our successful working relationship with Intelect on the Ohio Turnpike project, we are confident Intelect provides the
converged network solution needed for the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport," says Richard Ackerman, vice president of new
business development for Telsource. "Intelect's OL-600 will be an integral part of our overall solution, which will run in large part
over the airport's existing single-mode fiber infrastructure."
OmniLYNX allows for guaranteed quality of service (QOS) on critical voice traffic and provides flexibility in bandwidth allocation
permitting IP-based permanent virtual circuits (PVC) to easily be implemented without interfering with that traffic. With an
installed customer base of more than 4000 nodes deployed for customers networks worldwide, Intelect's OmniLYNX product
family supports a wide array of data interfaces, allowing diverse types of systems to be easily integrated into one network. This
revolutionary access platform is designed to allow virtually any type of voice, data or video service to be delivered from one piece
of equipment. Enhanced by support for voice and video communications in the same network, OmniLYNX products provide a
single, more manageable system for traffic flow information control.
The advantage OmniLYNX provides for Telsource includes a single network management system (NMS) that is flexible and
easily handled with no external system equipment requirements. It also allows Telsource to offer a superior solution to the
traditional network platforms and remain responsive to its customers' present and future needs efficiently and economically.

efficiency, providing carriers with a competitive time-to-market advantage. With network management software supporting both
TL-1 and SNMP, and a NEBS-compliant platform, the company's OmniLYNX product suite offers an unprecedented range of
protocols and services in a single shelf for both private and public networks. The OmniLYNX architecture is designed to support
SONET OC-1/OC-3/OC-12, SDH STM-1/STM-4, xDSL, ISDN-BRI, ATM transport, IP-over-Sonet, DS1 and DS3. Services offered
at the customer-premise include FXS/FXO/2W & 4W E&M, low speed data (RS-232, RS-422, RS-449, V.35), Ethernet 10/100M
and Video. Further information about Intelect Communications can be accessed at www.intelect.com.
