IBM 3rd-Qtr Profit, Revenue Rise on Purchases, Disk-Drive Sale
Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) -- International Business Machines Corp., the world's biggest computer maker, said third-quarter profit and revenue rose, helped by acquisitions of consulting and software businesses and the sale of a disk-drive unit.
Net income increased to $1.8 billion, or $1.02 a share, from $1.31 billion, or 76 cents, in the same period a year earlier, IBM said in a statement distributed by Business Wire. Revenue gained to $21.52 billion from $19.82 billion.
