BOSTON (Reuters) - General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE - News) on Friday reported a decline in second-quarter earnings on fewer gas turbine shipments as the conglomerate's plastics business continued to suffer from high costs for raw materials like oil and benzene.
The Fairfield, Connecticut, company, whose other businesses range from television broadcasting to jet-engine manufacturing, said earnings fell to $3.8 billion, or 38 cents a share, from $4.42 billion, or 44 cents a share, a year earlier.
