EK leitet den Turnaround durch Patentverkauf ein

 Beobachte die EK schon seit einiger Zeit und kann derzeit zwar positive Nachrichten bestätigen ,jedoch fällt die Aktie so wie sie steigt.

Die Frage an Euch ,gibt es die Chance für den Kodakkomplex durch den gerichteten Allan ? Es muss für Estman Kodak doch mehr als genug Subfirmen/Kapital Patnte und Besitz geben um das Ruder zu wenden.Werden sie als Firma 2013 neuen Glanz erleben was meint ihr nach den letzten NEWS scheint doch ein großer Schritt gemacht oder ?Bei der derzeitigen Lage und Aktienprofil ein Kauf wert ? Mit mehr als 1B müsste dass wuzeln schlagen  ,da Kodak weltbekannt und Pionier der Fotografie und des Druckes verkörpert.Derzeit ist noch kein Aufwärtstrend zu bemerken ,die Rekapitalisierung ist im Gange ,sollte man lieber noch abwarten und vor der Megapleite in Deckung gehen? Ich denke, dass sich die Bodenbildung jetz herauskristallisiert hat und es Nordwärz geht.

"Wall Street Journal": Gebot hat die für geschäftlichen Neuanfang notwendige Schwelle überschritten

Der insolvente Foto-Pionier Kodak kann für seine Digital-Patente wohl doch noch mehr als 500 Millionen Dollar (385,7 Millionen Euro) erlösen. Nach einem Bericht des "Wall Street Journal" hat das Gebot eines Konsortiums die für einen geschäftlichen Neuanfang notwendige Schwelle von einer halben Milliarde Dollar überschritten. 

Mindestens 500 Millionen Dollar

Kodak hatte sich im November fast 800 Millionen Dollar für einen Neustart gesichert, um als Druckspezialist aus dem Insolvenzverfahren hervorzugehen. Die Finanzspritze der Großbanken UBS und JP Morgan Chase sowie zwei weiteren Finanzfirmen war allerdings an die Bedingung geknüpft, dass Kodak beim Verkauf seiner Digital-Foto-Patente mindestens 500 Millionen Dollar erzielt. 

Noch 14 Milliarden Dollar Umsatz

Kodak hatte seit dem vergangenen Jahrhundert die klassische Fotografie entscheidend geprägt, kam aber nicht mit dem Wechsel zu digitalen Bildern klar. Nach jahrelangen geschäftlichen Problemen und hohen Verlusten ging der Foto-Pionier Anfang dieses Jahres in ein Insolvenzverfahren. Im Zuge der Sanierung wurden große Geschäftsbereiche abgestoßen, im einstigen Kerngeschäft Fotografie ist Kodak damit kaum noch vertreten. Nach den Plänen würde der Umsatz im Jahr 2013 auf 2,7 Milliarden Dollar sinken. Im Jahr 2000 hatte die Kodak-Gruppe noch 14 Milliarden Dollar Umsatz gemacht.

Für die Veräußerung der Digitalbild-Patente kalkulierte Kodak ursprünglich mit einem Milliardenerlös und setzte auf einen Bieter-Wettbewerb zwischen Interessenten wie Apple und Google. Doch die Rivalen stiegen nicht in ein Bieter-Rennen ein, so dass die Gebote zunächst sehr niedrig blieben. Hinter dem aktuellen Gebot soll laut "Wall Street Journal" eine Gruppe von Technologie-Firmen aus dem kalifornischen Silicon Valley stehen. Ein Bieterkonsortium hat dem insolventen Fotopionier Eastman Kodak mehr als 500 Millionen US-Dollar für ein Paket digitaler Patente angeboten. Das berichten mit dem Vorgang vertraute Personen. Noch sei es zwar nicht zum Abschluss gekommen. Aber dieses Gebot könnte für Kodak einen wichtigen Schritt nach vorne darstellen.

Dec 06, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Eastman Kodak Company, or Kodak, a picture and printing company, has announced an agreement with CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Caremark Corporation, through 2016.

As part of this agreement, CVS/pharmacy will be upgrading and expanding its fleet of KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange (APEX) dry lab systems, which provide an economical way for retailers to produce photo products, improve profitability, reduce their environmental footprint, and expand their customer offerings.

Following the positive customer response to the print from FACEBOOK feature, CVS/pharmacy recently launched mobile printing from smartphones to the KODAK Kiosk. Because this new agreement resolves certain pre-chapter 11 issues between the two companies, it will be brought before the Court for approval at a hearing scheduled for December 7, 2012.

"CVS/pharmacy is a valued partner to Kodak. This four-year extension of our relationship is great news for both companies, and for consumers who enjoy our services," said Laura Quatela, president of Kodak and Personalized Imaging.

"Together, Kodak and CVS/pharmacy have advanced the in-store photo experience, offering consumers a variety of quality, personalized products they can create instantly and easily. If you have to ask this question, you've held onto a stock too long.

Investors who own shares of once-powerful U.S. corporations, which have stumbled and fallen into bankruptcy protection, often think there's upside at the end of the process for them. Don't know if they're in denial or being loyal, but the idea that shares of companies that undergo bankruptcy restructuring have value is a prevalent one.

But the belief is far from the truth. There are exceptions, but most of the time when a company goes through the bankruptcy protection process, there's little if anything left for common shareholders.It's just a matter of economics. Due to the nature of common stock, the holders are just about last in line for anything of value held by a company.

By the time the bondholders, creditors, employees and vendors get their due, there's little left for the original shareholders. Many times bondholders see their debt get wiped out, and get shares of the new company as a result.  (und erhalten Aktien des neuen Unternehmens als Ergebnis)

That appears to be where Kodak is headed. Shares of the company are trading on an informal marketplace for about 20 cents a share.That's what they're worth.Investors should have sold long before now. But if they haven't, they might consider selling this tax year so they can at least deduct the losses on their 2012 tax return.

Kodak gets $500 million bid for patents portfolio

Kodak has been in dire financial trouble since January when it filed for bankruptcy protection. It has since got a deal with creditors for $830 million in loans dependent upon it selling off some patents for at least $500 million. A few months ago Kodak received some bids for the patents from both Apple and Google but the offers were far below the minimum $500 million. Now a new $500 million + offer is being put forward by a consortium of Silicon Valley tech companies, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Since January Kodak has done a lot of financial and operational restructuring including withdrawing from the digital camera business in February and then announcing that it would quit the inkjet printer market early in 2013. However, making what it believes to be an acceptable amount for its patents portfolio has been a challenge.

In August it was reported that Apple and Google put forward bids for the firm’s patents, whose court filings suggested its 1000+ imaging patents were worth up to $2.6 billion. However the offers from the two tech giants were said to be somewhere in the range of $150 million to $250 million. That was an offer too low to help Kodak satisfy its lenders. At the time a patent firm representative talking to the BBC said that “I think we'll see the prices go up as each side tries to outbid the other. What will be interesting is to see whether the victor will take a licensing approach or seek to further litigate against rivals”.

We don’t know much about the consortium making the $500 million offer except that it is made up of some Silicon Valley tech companies and firms that specialise in buying patents. Now it looks like Kodak will be able to emerge from bankruptcy and having cut unprofitable businesses, move on profitably.
