The project is located in the eastern portion of the Pre-Caspian Basin in Kazakhstan, where 46 Bio. barrels of oil equivalent (boe) have been discovered. Super-giant fields in Pre-Caspian include: Kashagan with 13 Bio. barrels of oil, Tengiz with 9 Bio. barrels of oil, Karachaganak with 6 Bio. barrels of oil and 47 trillion cubic feet of gas, Zhanazhol with 1 Bio. barrels of oil. Given the amount of oil discovered in the region where West Zharkamys-I is located, the story is not about finding oil, it is about extracting the maximum amount of oil present in the block! This resource play has a much lower risk profile than a pure exploration play.
