Valence Technology Begins Shipment of Saphion Cells to Wistron Corporation; Tablet PC to be First Mobile Computing Product with Designed-in Saphion Lithium-ion Technology

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2002--Valence Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: VLNC, news), a leader in the development and commercialization of Saphion(TM) technology and Lithium-ion polymer rechargeable batteries, today announced that it has begun shipment of Saphion Lithium-ion batteries to Wistron Corporation, one of the largest global ODM/OEM suppliers for the PC industry.
The tablet PC developed and manufactured by Wistron is the first mobile computing device to feature Saphion(TM) Lithium-ion technology batteries and is expected to ship by the end of the year. This product resulted from both companies' efforts under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in February.
