Solar subsidy launch in January
Kyodo News
The government will start accepting applications in mid-January for subsidies for installing household solar power systems.
The subsidies, which haven't been given out in three years, will amount to ¥70,000 per kilowatt of generation capacity, officials said.
A standard solar power generation system for household use costs about ¥2.3 million and has an output capacity of some 3 kw.
The government has already earmarked ¥9 billion for the program under a supplemental budget for this fiscal year and is planning to secure ¥20 billion in the general budget for next year.
Applications for the subsidies for this fiscal year will be accepted between Jan. 13 and March 31, the officials said.
