Symphonix and Siemens Receive Largest Vibrant Soundbridge Order to Date; French Hearing Clinic Expects
to Implant One to Two Patients Per Week

Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) has announced that Siemens, a world leader in
hearing instruments and the company's European distribution partner, has
received an order for 50 Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM) systems from Clinic Causse,
a private hearing clinic in Beziers, France. This represents the largest single
order to date for the breakthrough implantable middle ear hearing device
technology.
Since it began offering the Vibrant Soundbridge in March 2000, Clinic Causse has
experienced steadily increasing demand for the device from hearing aid users
actively looking for alternatives to acoustic hearing aids. The recent purchase
was placed in order to accommodate a caseload that has grown to one-to-two
implantation surgeries each week.
"Escalating demand for the Vibrant Soundbridge in France is reflective of
growing interest in the device across Europe as well as in the United States,"
said Kirk Davis, president and chief executive officer of Symphonix. "Clearly,
people suffering from moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss are
increasingly viewing the Vibrant Soundbridge as the preferred treatment option."
