Muehlhan wins USD 28.6 mil bridge project in San Francisco Bay
Hamburg, 29 August 2014 - The Muehlhan Group has been awarded a contract to
repaint portions of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge for the California
Department of Transportation. This bridge was first opened to traffic in
1956, is 8.5 kilometers long and crosses the San Francisco Bay, connecting
the cities of Richmond and San Rafael. The bridge has two decks; the upper
deck carries west bound traffic, the lower deck carries east bound traffic.
The scope of work included in the contract is to repaint the structural
steel that supports the lower deck on 36 spans of the bridge. Each span is
88 meters long. The contract value is USD 28.6 mil. Work on the project
will start this fall and complete in approximately three years.
