Bei einer solch ungewöhnlichen Vorgeschichte lohnt sich ein Blick hinter die Kulissen. Wer oder was steckt hinter dieser Gesellschaft, die über einen handverlesenen und fast ausnahmslos institutionellen bzw. Insider Aktionärsstamm verfügt?

El Salvador:

Zunächst die geographische Projektübersicht:



In El Salvador verfügt Condor Resources über eine Lizenzfläche von 226 km², die sich auf 5 3 Projekte (El Pascadito, El Potosi und La Calera) und 5 Lizenzen (El Gigante, El Pascadito, Carolina, La Calera und El Potosi) bezieht. Innerhalb dieser 5 Lizenzen hat Condor Resources 10 sog. prospects definiert. Die folgende *Übersicht faßt das zusammen, wobei die El Gigante Lizenz noch nicht enthalten ist, da sie erst im August 2006 gewährt wurde.




Die rot umkreisten Prospects weisen eine JORC Resource von zusammen gut 720.000 oz Gold-Äquivalent auf.

El Potosi Projekt / Lizenz (Gold-Silber) 100% earn in Vereinbarung mit Brett Resources



Schön zu sehen, die beiden eng zusammenliegenden Prospects El Potosi und El Chapulin. Es gab auf diesem Gold-Silber target keine historischen Bohrergebnisse auf beiden Properties im Bereich von El Potosi. In El Potosi gab es eine historische Minenoperation, die vor 1950 ca. 60.000 Oz Gold bei Goldgehalten von 18-30g/t gefördert hat. Die beiden Adersysteme (613 und F-Potosi) wurden in mehreren Underground Stockworks bis zu einer Tiefe von 120m ausgebeutet. Die Streichrichtungen der Adern sind aber offen und erfordern weitere Exloration, mit der Condor bereits begonnen hat.

Auf der folgenden Karte (El Potosi prospect) sind die Goldgehalte der entnommenen Samples und der Trenches dargestellt, die einen ersten Eindruck vom Potential des El Potosi Prospects geben.



Im Anschluß an das Trenching/Sampling Programm hat Condor im Dezember 2005 ein 3100 Bohrprogramm (überwiegend RC aber auch 750 Diamond drilling) auf dem El Potosi Prospect abgeschlossen. Die Ergebnisse mit Werten so um die 3g/t konnten im Wesentlichen die guten Trenching/Sampling Ergebnisse bestätigen und es wurde eine neue Nebenader entdeckt. Aus diesem Grund hat Condor Resources ein 4000m Bohrprogramm auf den Weg gebracht, das noch in 2006 beginnen soll.

El Chapulin Prospect

Auf dem El Chapulin Prospect sieht es auch sehr vielversprechend aus, was die Konsistenz der relativ hohen Goldgehalte der Samples/Trenching betrifft. Hier die Samples.



Nicht ganz klar ist aus den Gesellschaftsmitteilungen zu entnehmen, ob sich das geplante 4000m Bohrprogramm auch auf den El Chapulin Prospect bezieht. Die Sample/Trenching Ergebnisse würden das jedenfalls nahelegen.

La Calera Projekt / Lizenz (Gold) – 100% Condor Resources



Das La Calera Projekt weist Ergebnisse aus historischen Bohrprogrammen auf, die auf allen 3 definierten Prospects (Rosa, Rosa west, El Calichal) sehr vielversprechende Goldintervalle ergaben:




Das belegen auch die gewonnenen Samples aus dem Explorationsprogramm:



Dieses Projekt ist von den 3 El Salvador Projekten sicherlich das am wenigsten fortgeschrittenste. Condor hat sich vorwiegend auf Mapping/sampling-Arbeiten konzentriert und ein Trenching-Programm durchgeführt dessen Ergebnisse in Kürze erwaret werden (vermutlich im Rahmen des HY Berichtes am 30.11.2006). Die Properties im La Calera Bereich bieten v.a. gute Targets für open pittable gold deposits.

El Pescadito Projekt (Gold-Silber) 100% Condor Resources


Das El Pescadito Projekt, bzw. einzelne Prospects, ist sicherlich das Flagschiff-Projekt von Condor Resources. Es besteht aus den Lizenzen El Pescadito, Carolina (mit El Divisidero) und seit 17.8.2006 der El Gigante Lizenz, das nicht auf der Karte vermerkt ist, jedoch in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft der anderen Lizenzgebiete liegt. Das gesamte Lizenzgebiet umfaßt mittlerweile 133 km² (inkl. El Gigante). Hier die beste Übersicht, die ich finden konnte (Carolina bzw. de El Divisidero Prospect) liegt rechts neben der Kernlizenz El Pescadito):




Die Prospects Loma del Caballo (El Pascadito Lizenz) und El Divisidero (Carolina Lizenz) enthalten zusammen eine JORC-konforme inferred resource von 720.000 Gold-Äquivalent mit einem Goldgehalt von ca. 2,3g/t. . Loma del Caballo wurde umfassend von Intrepid Minerals exploriert, die allerdings die Lizenz aufgrund anderer Schwerpunkt nicht verlängerten, wodurch Condor Resources ohne nennenswerte Kosten zu 100% Eigentümer dieser Lizenzen werden konnte.


Loma del Caballo Prospect

Im Bereich Loma del Caballo hatte Intrepid seinerzeit ein 700m Länge und 50m x 200m (Breite) Grid identifiziert, das bebohrt wurde und eine Goldresource von 181k oz GoldÄquivalent ergab (bei 2,5Mt x 2,25g/t).



Das sampling in den anderen Projektbereichen brachte auch vielversprechende Goldwerte, so dass Condor dort weiter exploriert hat und kürzlich folgende Trenching-Ergebnisse bekanngab:

Sieben von acht Trenches haben wirtschaftliche abbaubare Goldgehalte ergeben, die von 1,24 g/t bis 6,25g/t reichen. Die Aderdicke ist bei dieser Art von Gold-Targets meistens im oberflächennahen Bereich enger und verbreitert sich mit nach unten gerichteter Streichlänge. U.a. auch um die Ergebnisse zu verifizieren und v.a. mit dem Ziel die bestehenden JORC-Resource zu vergrößern ist ein rd. 1000m Bohrprogramm geplant.

Virginia Agua Caliente Prospect Gold-Silber

Ein weitere Prospect umfaßt deb Agua Caliente Target, der bislang im Rahmen von Sampling/Trenching Programmen kontinuierlich gute Gold/Silbergehalte ergeben hat:



U.a. konnten 18 m mit 3,3g/t Gold Äquivalent nachgewiesen werden. Dennoch ist dieser Prospect gegenüber Loma del Caballo in einem frühen Stadium und bislang ist hier kein Bohrprogramm durchgeführt worden oder momentan geplant.

Corazal Prospect (gold-Silber)

Ähnliches gilt trotz ermutigender Sample-Results von durchschnittlich 5,5 g/t Gold und 150g/t Silber mit weit höheren Ausreißern nach oben (z.B. fast 36 kg/tonne Gold )

Auch hier sind aktuell keine konkreten Planungen für Bohr- oder Trenchingprogramme bekannt.

El Gigante Lizenz – Gold

Wie erwähnt, wurde diese Lizenz ohne signifikante Kosten und mit einem work-commitment von 100k US$ in den ersten 2 Jahren durch Condor Resources erworben. Es gab im Lizenzgebiet historische Aktivitäten und Samplings mit durchschnittlich 5,33g/t Gold und 228g/t Silber sind nachgewiesen worden.

Intrepid Minerals hat auf dem Gebiet 6 Diamond Core Bohrlöcher durchgeführt und u.a. folgende Ergebnisse erzielt:

3,35m mit 44g/t GoldÄquivalent in 30m Tiefe

0,2 m mit 97 g/t Goldäquivalent in 25m Tiefe

9,65m mit 9g/t Goldäquivalent in 50m Tiefe

Condor hat im Folgenden durch ein umfangreiches Sampling Programm nachgewiesen, dass die Gold/Silber Mineralisierung in einer ca. 1000m langen und 2-5m breiten Struktur verläuft. Intrepid hat die Lizenz in 2004 nicht verlängert, um sich auf andere Properties zu konzentrieren. Um ein Bohrprogramm bzw. weitere Explorationsarbeiten zu ermöglichen, hat Condor gerade die notwendigen Umweltgenehmigungen beantragt.

Carolina Lizenz – Gold-Silber – 100% Condor Resources

In diesem Lizenzgebiet liegt der El Divisidero Prospect. Dort hat Javelin Ltd in den 70er Jahren die gleichnamige Mine entwässert und Untergrund Proben genommen, deren Gehalte im Durchschnitt 1,7g/t Gold und 120g/t Silber in einer Breite von 30-50m ergaben. Weitere Explorationsarbeiten wurden in den 80er durchgeführt und schließlich hat die Ingenieurfirma Ravensgate auf Grundlage dieser umfangreichen Explorationsarbeiten eine Inferred Resource nach JORC Standard definiert. Diese beträgt ca. 540.000 oz Goldäquivalent mit 2,74 MT bei 6,15g/t.

Des Weiteren hat sich Bema Gold mit dem Divisidero Prospect beschäftigt und ein 18-Loch Bohrprogramm durchgeführt (Ergebnisse siehe Tabelle)



Diese Bohrungen gingen in den Bereich unter die bekannte Mineralisierung und die Ergebnisse sind bislang nicht in die Resourcenberechnung eingegangen. Auch ist die Mineralisierung nach Norden und Süden offen, so dass hier ein weiteres Bohrprogramm Aufschluß geben muß. Diesbezüglich ist jedoch noch nichts geplant.

El Salvador Exploration Budget

Der technische Berater von Condor Resources hat ein auf 18 Monate angelegtes Explorationsprogramm vorgeschlagen (Stand Mai 2006) und wie folgt budgetiert:




Nicaragua Aktivitäten

Da ich aufgrund des Projektstandes und des schlechteren politischen Umfeldes Nicaragua für die kurz- bis mittelfristige Entwicklung von Condor Resources für nicht so entscheidend halte, will ich nur kurz auf die Projekte in diesem Land eingehen.

Auch in Nicaragua gibt es also wieder 3 Projekte mit insgesamt 5 Lizenzen und einer zusätzlich beantragten Lizenz sowie einer Fläche von 743 km².

Sämtliche Projekte basieren auf einer Earn-In Vereinbarung, im Rahmen derer ein 80% Anteil erworben werden kann, was an spezielle Miliestones bei den Explorationsausgaben geknüpft ist.

Für die weiteren 18 Monate (Stand Mai 2006) hat Ravensgate ein Budget in Höhe von 856.000 GBP ermittelt.


Condor Resources Perspektiven / Planungen

Ravensgate hat vor 6 Monaten ein Budget für die Exploration der nächsten 18 Monaten in Höhe von 2,72 Mio GBP vorgelegt. Die Gesellschaft hat ihre Pläne für die nächsten 2 Jahren in einem Company Update vom September 2006 grob abgesteckt, indem sie bis August 2008 ein 40.000m Bohrprogramm (20.000m bis August 2007) auf den verschiedenen Properties plant.

Dieses 40 km Bohrprogramm ist aus heutiger Sicht durchfinanziert, da der Kassenstand ca. 5 Mio GBP beträgt (=9,6 Mio US$). Konkrete Pläne gibt es für El Potosi (4000m Bohrprogramm) und Loma del Caballo (rd. 1000m). Eine weitere Konkretisierung erwarte ich mir vom Halbjahresbericht, der für den 30.11.2006 angekündigt ist.


Bewertung

Condor Resources ist eine Aktie, die bislang sehr unscheinbar im Hintergrund agiert hat und demzufolge so gut wie keine Kleinaktionäre hat, die über den freien Markt gekauft haben. Das IPO an den AIM erfolgte Mitte Juni in einer sehr schwachen Phase für Explorer und dennoch konnte Condor für die überwiegend bei institutionellen anlegern platzierten Aktien 10p (ca. 15 Euro-Cent) je Aktie erzielen, wodurch sich ein schöner Cashbestand von rund 5 Mio GBP (7,5 Mio euro) ergibt. Angesichts einer Bewertung (7p – 10,5 Cent) von 9 Mio GBP und einem Cash Bestand von gut 5 Mio GBP sieht die Gesellschaft sehr günstig bewertet aus, v.a. wenn man die 720k oz inferred Resource mit in die Betrachtung einbezieht. Dafür verfügt Condor Resources über eine Lizenzfläche von 969 km² (224 km² El Salvador und 745 km² in Nicaragua) und hat nach 2 Jahren intensiver geologischer Basisarbeit (Mapping, Sampling, Trenching, Drilling) eine gute Informationsbasis für weitere gezieltere Maßnahmen geschaffen. Der hohe Anteil institutioneller Anleger läßt darauf schließen, dass man dem Management, dem ja auch Klaus Eckhof angehört, einiges zutraut. Last but not least sollte man bedenken, dass Condor Resources für den einen oder anderen Anleger dadurch eine gewisse Phantasie bekommen kann, dass es in der "Eckhof Gruppe" an anderer Stelle gewisse Umstrukturierungspläne gibt, im Rahmen derer auch die "unbelastete" Condor Resources, deren Name eigentlich besser zu südamerikanischen Projekten passen würde, eine gewisse Rolle spielen mag. Bedenkt man, dass Eckhof die Moto Goldmines erst jüngst von der ASX genommen hat und die Condor Resources statt an die ASX an den AIM ging, scheint es in diesen Kreisen ja eine höhere Wertschätzung für den AIM zu geben, was insbesondere ggü. dem OTC-BB mit seinen strengen und teuren Regulierungen gilt, die in keinem Verhältnis zum schlechten Ruf dieser Börse stehen.
Wenn man bedenkt, dass institutionelle Anleger in einem deutlich schlechteren Umfeld bereit waren, fast 50 Mio. Aktien zu 10p zu erwerben und die Aktie noch im Juni/Juli mit einem Bid-Preis von 14p am AIM notierte, dann erscheinen mir schon alleine deswegen 7p ein guter Einstiegskurs zu sein. Berücksichtigt man die Resourcembasis und das ambitionierte und durchfinanzierte 24-Monats Bohrprogramm, ein ganzjährigen Zugänglichkeit der Properties, dann bestätigt das meine Einschätzung, dass wir bei 7p einen guten Einstiegszeitpunkt haben.

Warnhinweise

Natürlich gibt es bei einem Explorer in diesem Stadium Risiken, die man kennen sollte. Insbesondere die künftige Möglichkeit des Explorers, jemals Resourcen gewinnbringend abzubauen, ist mit zahlreichen Unsicherheiten behaftet. Vorkommen können sich als zu gering im Umfang erweisen, dass ein Abbau profitabel erfolgen kann, die Resourcenpreise können signifikant fallen oder die Kosten können steigen, z.B. auch durch höhere Steuern. Schließlich gilt Mittelamerika zwar inzwischen als politisch stabilisiert, dennoch deuten jüngste Tendenzen in Nicaragua eventuell darauf hin, dass Regierungen in Lateinamerika verstärkt über höhere Besteuerung, niedrigere Anteile für Auslandsfirmen und/oder höhere Explorationsauflagen nachzudenken. Das sollte jedem klar sein, der in einer solche Gesellschaft investiert.

Mapping of lag and float material suggests that the Cacao vein could extend for
a further 2km to the west, partially buried beneath a thin cover of alluvium.
Further trenches are being excavated to test the western strike extent of the
structure. Alluvial cover prevents the effective use of trenching to look for an
eastern strike continuation to mineralization; therefore exploration drilling is
planned subsequent to receipt of all trench results in this area.


Nigel Ferguson, CEO of Condor, said: '"These results are very encouraging.
Mineralization, alteration and the continuity and grade of the initial results
received from trenching at the Cacao Project indicate that this system has the
potential to host an economic epithermal bonanza vein similar to that contained
within the El Limon - La India mines located nearby, which produced between 1942
to 1996, more than two million ounces of gold, with another 350,000 delineated
by recent exploration. These results highlight the potential of this project and
we hope to achieve similar success with subsequent programs.'"


Within the Cacao Project, preparation is being made for commencement of a first
phase reverse circulation drilling program to test depth extensions of this well
mineralised zone, initially expected to be undertaken over a strike length of
approximately 400 metres and to a depth of approximately 150 to 200 metres below
surface. The Directors expect a maiden mineral resource statement to follow in
due course.

Significant High Grade Trenching Results at the San Albino Project, Nicaragua

            Results include 18 metres at 6.77grams per tonne gold

The structure is open in all directions with potential for parallel structures


Condor Resources Plc (AIM: CNR) is pleased to announce the definition of a
discovery of wide, high grade gold mineralisation within a broad shear zone at
it's San Albino Prospect in northern Nicaragua close to the historical high
grade San Albino Gold Mine.


Significant gold intercepts in four adjacent trenches approximately 50 metres
apart, define a mineralised corridor at least 200 metres long and varying
between 3 metres width in the north-east to over 18 metres width towards the
south-west. Mineralisation remains open along strike in both directions and the
width remains unconstrained at the thickest intersection in the south-east.


In addition two parallel mineralised structures have been identified in trench
SATR010 which was extended further to the south-east than the other trenches to
test for such parallel mineralised structures. Both parallel systems are open
along strike and returned the following assay results from SATR010: 3 metres at
2.94g/t gold and 3 metres @ 20.11g/t gold respectively.

The gold mineralization is hosted by a south-east dipping shear zone of
chloritic and locally graphitic quartz-bearing schist that cuts through a
package of medium to high grade metamorphic rocks. Width and grade of the gold
mineralization increases to the south-east, where both width and strike extent
have not yet been constrained. Extensions to existing trenches and further
trenching to test the strike extent are planned for this month. An initial
reverse circulation program to test continuity of mineralization at depth is
being planned for commencement after receipt of Government Environmental Permits
and on securing a suitable drilling rig. The wide intersections indicated in
trenching to date suggest that the San Albino Prospect may be amenable to low
cost open pit bulk mining.

Chain of Custody

Condor enforces a strict chain of custody, with all field samples being
collected under the supervision of a qualified senior geologist. Samples are
sealed in larger bags and kept under lock and key until being delivered to BSI
Inspectorate Laboratories, Guatemala for completion of the sample preparation
phase. Prepared samples are then forwarded by courier to BSI Laboratories in
Sparks, Nevada, USA for final assay determinations.

Die Goldmineralisierung wird durch eine eintauchende Schersüdostzone von bewirtet chloritic und am Ort graphitic Quarzlager Schist, der a durchschneidet Paket des Mittels zu den hochwertigen metamorphen Felsen. Breite und Grad des Goldes Mineralisierung auf den Südosten, in dem Breite und Schlagumfang sich erhöht sind nicht noch begrenzt worden. Verlängerungen zu vorhandenen Gräben und fördern der Trenching, zum des Schlagumfanges zu prüfen werden für diesen Monat geplant. Eine Initiale das Rückzirkulation Programm, zum des Durchganges von Mineralisierung zu prüfen ist eingehend , planend für Anfang nach dem Empfang von Regierung Klimaerlaubnis und auf dem Sichern einer verwendbaren ölplattform. Die breiten Durchschnitte innen angezeigt Trenching schlagen bis jetzt vor, daß die San Albino-Aussicht Tief zugänglich sein kann Massenbergbau der geöffneten Grube der Kosten.

and subsequent to a field visit in late 2007. Condor has completed some 2,170
metres of drilling and 1,855 metres of trenching within the licence area. The
inferred resource using a 0.5g/t gold bottom-cut and a 12.5g/t gold top-cut is
stated by Geosure as:

Gold mineralisation at the El Cacao Prospect is contained within an epithermal
quartz-carbonate vein and associated breccia and stock-work zone hosted by
andesitic volcanic rocks. The east-west striking mineralised structure has been
traced over a 600 metre strike extent and tested down to a maximum of 120 metres
below surface. In the drill tested area high grade gold mineralisation is
concentrated in two zones with a combined strike length of 330 metres and drill
intercepted average grades of up to 7g/t gold over 10 metres.


The mineralised structure remains open to depth and along strike in both
directions where alluvial cover obscures the surface expression. The
mineralisation and geological setting is very similar to the Limon Mine located
55 kilometres to the west of the El Cacao Prospect, which has produced
intermittently, approximately 2.7 million ounces of gold over the last 67 years.


Exploration to date has concentrated on establishing the width and tenure of
gold mineralisation to a relatively shallow depth below the area where the El
Cacao structure is exposed in outcrop. This work has demonstrated that the El
Cacao structure hosts high grade zones of gold mineralisation with continuity at
the 10's to 100's of metre scale. Based on the positive results from this
initial resource estimation and the geological knowledge gained, the company is
now confident that the El Cacao structure warrants further exploration to
establish the depth and strike extent of the gold mineralisation. It is further
encouraged by the fact that gold mineralisation in the analogous Limon Mine has
been demonstrated to extend to at least 270 metres below surface, over twice the
depth that has been explored at El Cacao to date.

A resource on the Arras Prospect on the company's Nueva Segovia project area in
the north of Nicaragua will be undertaken as soon as the assay results are
returned from the latest round of drilling. It is anticipated that the resource
estimate for Arras will be completed within the next few weeks.

Condor Resources

Condor Resources Plc ist ein Explorationsunternehmen mit Sitz im UK. Die Firma wird an AIM notiert. That was an asset swap that gave Condor 80 per cent control of La India and a 20 per cent of Cerro Quiroz.

The deal was struck with B2Gold because it owned the neighbouring concession to CQ and had built a brand spanking new processing plant there at a cost of US$70 million, which was opened by the Nicaraguan president and head of the army in May this year.

As an aside, though it is an important point, concessions are granted for 25 years at a time in Nicaragua, which allows for exploration and exploitation of a particular area.

Not only does it mean the permitting process is a lot simpler, it largely ensures that the millions spent on a successful exploration and drilling programme can be converted into a producing mine.

That said there are still hoops to jump including attaining the relevant environmental approvals.

Condor’s concessions in the La India gold mining district of Nicaragua covers 165 square kilometres, which accounts for approximately 85 per cent of the district.

Work by Russian geologists during Sandinista rule shows there is total resource of 2.44 million ounces in the ground at La India, with a C1 and C2 of 958,000 ounces at a grade of 9.8 grams per tonne and a P1 of 1.48 million at 9.3 g/t.

The Russians worked solidly for four years from 1986 and spent a not insubstantial US$12 million. They carried out 12,000 metres of drilling, 6,200 metres of trenching, took 11,000 samples and carried out geophysics on a 58 square kilometre area.

A 280 page technical report is signed off by three Russian and one Nicaraguan geologist. The local expert has worked full time for Condor for the past four years.

This was followed up by work in the post revolutionary era by TVX Gold of Canada, which drilled a further 10 holes, opened 4,000 metres of tunnels and trenched 12,000 metres on the surface between 1996 and 1998.

Newmont trenched and mapped the area, while Gold Core and Glencairn, also of Canada, drilled a further 18 holes between them.

Why then aren’t any of these upstanding Canadian companies now mining the area?

Child explains: “B2Gold acquired Central Sun in 1997, which had two producing mines in Nicaragua as well as La India and other concessions.

“B2Gold’s priority has been to refurbish and substantially upgrade the producing mines, which should produce a combined, annualised 120,000 oz gold in the last quarter of this year and focus on exploration activity to increase the resource and reserves in the immediate vicinity of the mines.

“So the Russian resource at La India sat on the back burner and was considered non strategic”

As well as the drilling, there was a mine on La India operated by a Canadian company called Noranda until 1956, which produced a total of 575,000 oz gold at 13.4 grams per tonne.

The mine was underground and produced at a peak rate of 41,000 ounces a year – which is none-too-shabby considering this was almost 60 years ago.

The existence of the mine proves that not only is there gold in the area, but it is possible to get it out of the ground.

So what is the next step? Well, Condor has employed SRK to determine how many of the Russian ounces can be converted into JORC ounces.

And beyond that it has been tasked with developing a drilling programme that will determine how much of the residual Russian resource can be converted into a JORC resource.

Condor estimates it has around an attributable 1.5 million of those 2.4 million Russian ounces in the La India district. There is a silver credit of approximately 1.5 times the gold resources, but this has yet to be calculated.

SRK should have an initial JORC resource for La India by the end of the year, which is a significant landmark.

It is impossible to say how many of the Russian ounces will be included. But you get the impression Child is hoping that the SRK-calculated JORC resource will initially be roughly half the 1.5million ounces Condor has calculated are on its concessions.

It will then depend on SRK just how much more drilling is needed to add additional resource ounces. At this stage it is impossible to say how many more Russian ounces will be converted.

However one of the company’s stated objectives is to have a maiden JORC resource of 1 million ounces in 12 months.

The share price chart, meanwhile, looks like the outline of the north face of the Eiger - a sheer drop in other words as Condor collapsed from a high of almost 11p in June 2006 to a low of 0.4p.

This was the result of the moratorium on mining in El Salvador, which means it can carry out no further work on its two projects there: La Calera and El Pescadito.

Combined they have a gold resource or a gold equivalent resource of around 1 million ounces.

Currently the Tau Group of Spain is carrying out a government backed environmental study into the mining industry, which is expected to make its recommendations by the end of the year.

However anyone expecting a swift resolution to the stalemate should think again, Child says.

“I suspect we will see some amendments to the mining law and that it has to be done in an environmentally friendly way,” he says. “That’s the light at the end of the tunnel.

“The problem with politics in any country of the world you just don’t know how long this will take.”

Pacific Rim, a Canadian firm which wants to build a gold mine in El Salvador, has taken the matter to litigation and is currently suing the Government of El Salvador for US$75m through the Central American Free Trade Association.

The Condor chairman has avoided this confrontational approach, although he is making sure the company’s licences in El Salvador are not granted to someone else.

Elsewhere the company has the Rio Luna concession in Nicaragua, and hopes in the next year to be able to compile a maiden resource for the project.

As mentioned earlier it has a 20 per cent stake in Cerro Quiroz, which will be developed by B2Gold, and Cacao, where it has drilled 2,200 metres, and the recently acquired Estrella and Potrerillos concessions.

Although interesting, the latter pair may be sold given the focus on exploration is firmly on La India.

“Estrella hosts a former producing mine and is in Nicaragua’s golden triangle. We would love to complete a couple of thousand metres of drilling on it. But the priority is La India,” Child says.

So we know a little more about Condor. But there are two more issues we should consider.

The first is financing. With just over £1.1 million in the bank it is a fair bet the company will at some point have to consider its funding options, which include £372,500 expected by June 2011 from the exercise of warrants which are heavily in the money and the possible sale of the Estrella and Potrerillos concessions in Nicaragua to help fund verification work on La India.

When this happens will in large part depend on the SRK report and the scale of drilling programme it prescribes to prove up the resource base of La India.

Our own back of the fag packet calculation suggests the company will be able to fund the drill programme from current resources if SRK asks for 10-20 per cent of the work to be verified.

And certainly raising new cash will be a lot easier for a company with a JORC resource of a million ounces plus at a high grade of say 9g/t.

The second, issue is one of political risk. The CIA World Factbook acknowledges Nicaragua has come a long way in the past 20 years with free and democratic elections in 1990, 1996 and 2001.

The vote in 2006 announced the return of former Sandinista president Daniel Ortega.

“The 2008 municipal elections were characterised by widespread irregularities,” the CIA Handbook tells us.

“Nicaragua's infrastructure and economy - hard hit by the earlier civil war and by Hurricane Mitch in 1998 - are slowly being rebuilt, but democratic institutions face new challenges under the ORTEGA administration.

What this means for the mining industry, and gold mining in particular is another matter. But investors will be mindful of the paralysis in El Salvador.

Child says there’s always been an affinity with gold mining in Nicaragua. “The reason they love gold is when they went down the Fidel Castro route to socialism they had three operating gold mines. So when sanctions were imposed the country survived on gold mining,” he says.

Let’s hope he is right, and there is no state interference. In which case a year from now we could be looking at a company sitting on a gold resource of 1 million ounces whose prospects are truly glittering.
