Das Potential von Broadvision ist grenzenlos ,sagt

der Chef Financial Officer    FRANKFURT – If you ask Randall Bolten, chief financial officer of BroadVision Inc., whether shares of the Neuer Markt- and Nasdaq-listed e-commerce software company are undervalued, he won't comment--at least directly.

In an interview with europeFN, he said: "I'm just the CFO of a software company, not a professional investor. It's the investing public's job to make that evaluation."

BroadVision's shares Thursday were last trading on the Neuer Markt at around 30.70 euros, down 67% from the closing high of 95.33 euros reached in March.

Mr. Bolten hinted that he thought BroadVision shares have undershot fair value.

Speaking from the firm's headquarters in Redwood City, California, he said: "What I would say is that if BroadVision realizes its potential as the premier application software company, then today's stock (price) is a bargain."

He describes BroadVisions's potential as "limitless." Obviously, Mr. Bolten believes BroadVision will realize its potential, and will capture a significant share of the market for electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) software.

"I believe ECRM is potentially the largest application software market in history and this is just the second inning (of a nine-inning baseball game)," he said. "In the long run, enterprises want to buy packaged applications and, in our market, every enterprise is a potential customer. In that regard, the market is almost limitless."

BroadVision, with European headquarters in Munich, was founded in 1993 and develops and markets personalized e-business applications designed for delivery via the web and wireless devices. Fellow Neuer Markt company Intershop Communications AG is one of BroadVision's biggest competitors. (See story)

BroadVision produces a wide range of Internet software products and services that are designed for large net businesses. These include its 'MarketMaker' software, which provides users with access to an e-marketplace in which buyers and sellers can find each other to negotiate contracts. Online transactions can also be performed.

It also makes procurement software that enables firms to tap into a worldwide network of suppliers. In effect, BroadVision produces software products that allow companies to run their business over the Internet. The company says it has more than 1,000 customers, including Siemens Business Services, Samsung and Xerox.

At about 12.3 billion euros, BroadVision has the second biggest market capitalization on the Neuer Markt.

In the first nine months of this year, the company recorded revenue of $277 million, compared with $71.8 million in the same period last year. Net income rose 22% to $34.2 million.

Earlier this week BroadVision officially joined the elite ranks of American blue-chip stocks with its entry onto the Standard & Poor's 500 index. When the S&P 500 news was announced, BroadVision's shares on the Neuer Markt surged as high as 36.8%. (see story)
