Legend Holdings Ltd. (0992), China's largest computer maker, said it has yet to come up with any concrete arrangement with Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008) on an announced plan to develop computers providing one-touch access to the latter's NOW service.
That's almost a year after the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation. At that time, PCCW was rivaling Singapore Telecommunications to take over Hong Kong's largest telephone company. A deal with China giant Legend was considered by many analysts positive for PCCW's bid.
Little has progressed since their joint news conference last April, though, according to Liu Chuanzhi, Legend's chairman. Underdeveloped broadband Internet infrastructure in mainland China, particularly that of the cable television operators, has limited the demand for NOW, he said
