Hewlett-Packard reports $1.2 billion first-quarter profit
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ :Hewlett-Packard Co.
HPQ 31.81, -0.68, -2.1% ) on Wednesday reported a first-quarter profit of $1.2 billion, or 42 cents a share, on revenue of $22.7 billion. During the same period a year ago, H-P earned $900 million, or 48 cents a share, on $2.15 billion in revenue. Excluding one-time items, H-P earned $1.4 billion, or 48 cents a share. By that measure, the company beat the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call, who forecast a profit of 44 cents a share on $22.5 billion in revenue. End of Story
