| Lumenis laser wins FDA clearance, stock rises |  |
| MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2003 7:16 PM - Reuters U.S. Company News LOS ANGELES, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Israeli medical device maker Lumenis Ltd. (LUME) on Monday said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the company's new laser for treating a variety of eye diseases. Lumenis said the FDA approved its its Novus TTx, 810 Nanometer Infrared Diode Photocoagulator, an advanced device that allows ophthalmologists to treat complicated retinal conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration and intraocular tumors. With the addition of this latest laser, the company said its product line offers a minimally-invasive option for nearly every major eye disease. Shares of Lumenis, which closed at $1.27 a share on Nasdaq, had more than doubled to $2.50 after hours on Instinet. © Reuters 2003. All rights reserved.
