Grandcru, Benton assay up to 1.01% U308 at South Sibley

2007-06-14 09:12 ET - News Release

See News Release (C-GR) Grandcru Resources Corp

Mr. Brian Leeners of Grandcru reports

GRANDCRU & BENTON DISCOVER NEW URANIUM-RICH ZONES WITHIN POTENTIAL IOCG ENVIRONMENT

Grandcru Resources Corp. and joint venture partner Benton Resources Corp. have released additional assay results from new zones identified by prospecting on the South Sibley block, one of three blocks of claims that comprise the joint venture property in the Sibley basin.

The initial eight assays previously released (see news in Stockwatch May 24, 2007) returned encouraging grades up to 0.21 per cent U308. Since then, new samples collected from a recent discovery of mineralized hematite breccia returned assays grading up to 1.01 per cent U308, 71 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 0.20 per cent copper and 0.15 per cent lead. These samples also contain elevated values for molybdenum (up to 440 parts per million, background 12 parts per million), arsenic (up to 139 parts per million, background five parts per million) and rare earth elements cerium (up to 466 parts per million, background 60 parts per million) and lanthanum (up to 221 parts per million, background 12 parts per million).

The coincident uranium-copper-silver mineralization hosted in a hematite breccia combined with the other enriched elements suggest a similar geochemical signature as noted in IOCG deposits around the world (Olympic dam in Australia, Salobo in Brazil). The samples cover an area measuring approximately 200 metres by 250 metres and are proximal to the Goodmorning Lake fault zone. Preliminary data from the recently completed airborne geophysical survey (Geotech Ltd., VTEM) suggest the mineralization is associated with conductive electromagnetic (EM) responses.

Grandcru and Benton are pleased about the new discoveries and potential IOCG targets as they search for Athabasca-type uranium deposits under the Sibley sediments on the unconformity. The South Sibley property has excellent accessibility and lies only a few kilometres north of the Trans-Canada Highway. Prospecting is continuing and results from other highly radioactive zones are anticipated in the near future. A mechanical trenching program is currently being planned to follow up on other airborne EM responses.

Clinton Barr, PGeo, vice-president exploration for Benton, is the qualified person responsible for this release.

We seek Safe Harbor.

Benton Resources increases holdings at King Lake

2007-07-05 12:38 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON RESOURCES CORP. (BTC) ACQUIRES MORE GROUND AT THE KING LAKE PROJECT IN LABRADOR

Benton Resources Corp. has staked an additional 788 claim units (19,700 hectares) contiguous to the west side of the King Lake nickel-copper project located 60 kilometres north of the world-class Voisey's Bay nickel deposit in Labrador.

Benton and its partner Teck Cominco Ltd. are currently prospecting and geologically mapping the King Lake project, an initial work program that is scheduled to continue to mid-July. This early-stage ground follow-up has confirmed the presence of local net-textured to semi-massive sulphide occurrences coincidental to the gossanous outcrop and large-conductive anomaly reported earlier (see Stockwatch news on June 7, 2007, and June 22, 2007). Assays of the grab samples are pending. Subsequently, Benton elected to increase its landholdings in the area.

The King Lake nickel project is host to numerous, high-grade nickel-copper showings that have returned up to 6.8 per cent copper and 1.9 per cent nickel. Airborne survey maps which demonstrate the similarities between King Lake and Voisey's Bay can be found on Benton's website.

Benton remains excited about the potential of the project. Results of the initial follow-up program of prospecting and mapping will be released to the public domain as they are received and compiled.

Clinton Barr, PGeo, vice-president of exploration for Benton Resources, is the qualified person responsible for this release.

Benton Resources samples 2.02% Cu at King Lake

2007-07-19 10:25 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON RESOURCES CORP. (BTC) CONFIRMS COPPER, NICKEL AND COBALT MINERALIZATION AT THE KING LAKE PROJECT, LABRADOR

Benton Resources Corp. and partner Teck Cominco Ltd. have received assays from an initial four grab samples collected from their King Lake project in Labrador and submitted to Accurassay Laboratories of Thunder Bay, Ont. The samples verify that copper, nickel and cobalt mineralization is associated with the large conductive anomaly previously reported by Benton Resources in Stockwatch on June 7, 2007. The four samples were collected over a 750-metre strike length associated with a large, highly gossanous area. Individual assays returned values up to 2.02 per cent copper, 0.86 per cent nickel and 0.11 per cent cobalt. Benton Resources remains optimistic about this early-stage project and is anticipating the complete results of the initial sampling program completed as follow-up to the airborne survey that was flown over the property in April of this year.

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON RESOURCES CORP. (BTC, BTC-WT) FINALIZES PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT AND COMPLETES FIRST EQUITY FINANCING WITH STILLWATER MINING CORP.

Benton Resources Corp., further to the report in Stockwatch news on April 16, 2007, has finalized its participation agreement with Stillwater Mining Company (SWM) whereby SWM has the exclusive right to earn up to an initial 50-per-cent interest in the Goodchild and South Goodchild Ni-Cu-PGE projects by completing three separate financings into Benton in the total amount of $6-million over a three-year period at a 50-per-cent premium to the 20-day trailing average of Benton's share price prior to the completion of each of the three financings. SWM will have the right to take its interest to 70 per cent by incurring a further $24-million in exploration or completing a feasibility study on the Goodchild project, whichever first occurs. Benton will remain as operator for the first three years during the initial period of the agreement.

In accordance with the agreement, SWM has completed the first financing of $1.6-million consisting of 1,290,322 common shares at a price of $1.24 per common share. The common shares issued to SWM are subject to a four-month hold period which expires on Nov. 11, 2007. Benton is, under the agreement, required to spend $600,000 of the first financing on the Goodchild project.

To earn a 50-per-cent interest in the Goodchild project, SWM must complete: (i) a second financing of $2-million on July 10, 2008, at 50-per-cent premium to the market price at that time, of which Benton will be required to spend $1-million on the Goodchild project; and (ii) a third financing of $2.4-million on July 10, 2009, at 50-per-cent premium to the market price at that time, of which Benton will be required to spend $1.4-million on the Goodchild project.

The Goodchild project is located approximately 15 kilometres north of Marathon, Ont., and is host to several nickel showings with grab samples assaying up to 6.72 per cent nickel (Falconbridge/Xstrata personnel). The large ultramafic intrusion measures approximately five kilometres by eight kilometres and has numerous untested airborne electromagnetic anomalies detected from a survey completed almost 20 years ago. Benton will keep its shareholders updated on developments at the Goodchild project as exploration moves forward.

Benton Resources partner Tri-Gold to drill at Sibley

2007-09-18 13:42 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON RESOURCES CORP. (BTC) RECEIVES NOTICE THAT ITS PARTNER TRI-GOLD RESOURCES CORP INTENDS TO DRILL SIBLEY URANIUM PROJECT

Benton Resources Corp.'s joint venture partner, Tri-Gold Resources Corp., has notified Benton that preparations are being made to drill a minimum of four diamond drill holes on the Sibley basin uranium property. Tri-Gold Resources has the exclusive rights and option to earn up to a 60-per-cent interest in the project by spending the first $1-million on exploration. After the earn-in costs have been incurred, Benton and Tri-Gold will form a joint venture on a 40:60 basis. This initial phase of drilling on the Sibley basin project is designed largely for geological purposes, by means of testing a series of conductive zones in the central portion of the property, as interpreted from the airborne Megatem survey carried out in January, 2007. The target zone is also well sited proximal to modelled basement lineaments (faults), as derived from the aeromagnetic data. Such a setting is similar to unconformity-style and basement-hosted uranium mineralization found in the Athabaska basin and believed to exist within the Sibley basin. This drill program will assist greatly in characterizing the depth and nature of the basement floor rocks and the overlying sediments. Drilling is scheduled to commence toward the end of September, 2007.

2007-09-24 12:47 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON CONTINUES TO INTERCEPT WIDE ZONES OF PGMs AND COPPER ON BERMUDA PROPERTY NORTH OF MARATHON DEPOSIT

Benton Resources Corp. has received assay results for an additional four diamond drill holes from the Bamoos area of the company's 100-per-cent-owned Bermuda property.

The latest drilling continues to intersect significant platinum-group-metal and copper mineralization on the south part of the Bamoos claim block, which is located on strike and immediately north of Marathon PGM Corp.'s Marathon deposit.

Hole BO-07-50 cut 51 metres grading 1.56 grams per tonne total precious metals (total precious metals equal platinum plus palladium plus gold) and 0.28 per cent copper, including higher-grade sections of 2.2 grams per tonne total precious metals and 0.4 per cent copper over 24 metres, and 5.4 grams per tonne total precious metals and 0.48 per cent copper over three metres. BO-07-50 is located approximately 40 metres north of the Marathon PGM-Benton Resources property boundary and 50 metres south of the hole BO-07-48 (reported in Stockwatch on Sept. 10, 2007), which cut 1.91 grams per tonne total precious metals and 0.31 per cent copper over a 33-metre core length, including six metres grading 3.7 grams per tonne total precious metals and 0.21 per cent copper

Benton sampling reveals high-grade Ni, Cu at Bark Lake

2007-10-05 10:11 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON DISCOVERS NEW HIGH GRADE NICKEL AND COPPER ALONG WITH PLATINUM AND PALLADIUM AT BARK LAKE

Benton Resources Corp.'s initial grab sampling from the first phase prospecting program on its Bark Lake project has identified high-grade nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu), along with platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and gold (Au). The new samples, which were taken approximately 200 metres to the north of the previously announced area of mineralization (as reported in Stockwatch Aug. 20, 2007), has returned individual assays grading up to 1.5 per cent nickel, 1.2 per cent copper, 2.6 grams per tonne Pt, 1.4 gpt Pd and 0.7 gpt Au. Twelve out of the 16 samples taken from the area returned results higher in platinum than palladium. Also of particular interest was the discovery of several semi-massive, net-textured sulphide boulders, with one measuring around one cubic metre in size and assaying 1.5 per cent Ni. The boulders are angular in nature and believed to be located very close to source. Given the many positive indications at this early stage Benton management feels that the Bark Lake project has good potential to host an Ni-Cu-Pt-Pd deposit of economic significance.

Through additional recent staking, Benton has more than doubled its initial land position at Bark Lake and has started an aggressive exploration program to include line cutting (now complete), followed by geological mapping, prospecting, ground geophysics including magnetics, Max-Min electromagnetics, and an induced polarization survey to be followed by diamond drilling.

The Bark Lake property is host to numerous newly discovered Ni-Cu-Pt-Pd mineralization hosted in ultramafic rock either in outcrop or among dozens of mineralized boulders. The mineralized occurrences are situated along the Quetico fault, a major crustal-scale east-west-oriented structure. Several other companies including Teck Cominco Ltd. have recently taken an interest by staking and/or joint venturing mafic intrusive bodies along this same fault zone (see Pro-am Exploration (PMX) news of Aug. 20, 2007).

Recently announced financing

Further to its news as reported in Stockwatch Sept. 26, 2007, and Sept. 27, 2007, Benton advises that it will also pay Westwind Partners Inc. a 7-per-cent cash fee of the gross proceeds from the financing and that number of broker warrants equal to 7 per cent of the number of units and flow-through shares issued under the financing. Each broker warrant will entitle Westwind to acquire one common share of the company at an exercise price of $1.25 per common share expiring 18 months from the closing of the financing.

Benton to acquire Rex Lake Ni-Cu property in Ontario

2007-12-06 13:35 ET - News Release

Mr. Stephen Stares reports

BENTON RESOURCES CORP. (BTC) ACQUIRES NEW NI-CU PROPERTY

Benton Resources Corp. has entered into a binding letter of intent to acquire the Rex Lake nickel-copper (Ni-Cu) property located approximately 90 kilometres north of Kenora, Ont. The property consists of eight unpatented mining claims totalling 85 units. Benton can earn a 100-per-cent interest by paying $50,000 and 30,000 shares over three years. The property is also subject to a 2-per-cent net smelter return (NSR) royalty payable to the vendor, of which Benton can buy back 1 per cent for $1-million. Historic mineral deposits in the area include the past-producing Gordon Lake Ni-Cu-PGE mine, past-producing Werner Lake Cu-Co-Au mine and the Norpax Ni-Cu-PGE deposit located along strike 15 kilometres, 19 kilometres and 24 kilometres east of the Rex Lake property, respectively.

Historical shallow diamond drilling completed by Eastern Mining & Smelting in 1956 intersected 23.9 metres (m) grading 1.02 per cent Cu and 15.1 grams per tonne combined precious metal (interpreted as silver) at approximately 60 m vertically below surface. Diamond drilling completed by Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd. during the late 1980s intersected 1.17 per cent Cu and 9.5 g/t Ag over 29.5 m (at approximately 50 m vertical) that included 2.04 per cent Cu and 5.3 g/t Ag over 11.95 m. An undercut drill hole intersected a metamorphosed ultramafic (peridotite) that yielded 22.8 m grading 0.1 per cent Cu and 0.31 per cent Ni (at 140 m vertical), suggesting better potential for nickel mineralization. All intervals are core lengths and true thicknesses are currently unknown. Surface channel sampling completed by Atikwa Minerals Ltd. in 2003 returned anomalous levels of platinum and palladium values (0.09 to 0.145 g/t). The mineralization host is described as metamorphosed intrusive mafic-ultramafic (gabbro, pyroxenite and peridotite) units in sulphide-rich metasediments of Archean age.

Benton believes the property geology is highly favourable for nickel-copper mineralization and is currently organizing grid establishment to be followed by ground geophysics for this upcoming winter season. The groundwork will be used to delineate diamond drill targets. This new acquisition conforms to Benton's focus of directing exploration efforts toward nickel-copper mineralization.

Marathon PGM drills 102 m of 1.26 g/t PGM plus Au

2008-06-05 08:46 ET - News Release

See News Release (C-MAR) Marathon PGM Corp

Mr. Phillip Walford of Marathon reports:

MARATHON HITS SECOND 100+ M THICK SECTION OF MINERALIZATION ON MARATHON/BENTON JV PROPERTY

Marathon PGM Corporation ("Marathon" or "the Company", MAR-TSX) is pleased to announce the second phase of drilling results from the Bamoos-Claw Lake-Four Dams ("BCF") Property, which is being explored under an option and joint venture agreement with Benton Resources (TSX.v:BTC). The BCF property adjoins the Company's Marathon Project near Marathon, Ontario.

Marathon hole MB-08-10 hit mineralization 134m in thickness, on-strike and 125m southeast of Benton hole BO-06-20, which intersected 102m of mineralization grading 1.26 g/t PGM and gold and 0.58% copper. Exploration of this area is a priority for drilling, as no drilling has been conducted between these two drill holes. There is high potential to rapidly expand the size of the resource in this area. The northern end of the Marathon deposit has an overall higher than average grade compared to the rest of the Main Zone to the south. Marathon has a right to mine within 200m of the BCF boundary before the JV is completed.

Highlights:

hole MB-08-10 intersected 0.90 g/t PGM and Au and 0.27% Cu over 134m (from 146-280 m), 125m along strike from Benton hole B0-06-20 (1.26g/t PGM and Au and 0.58%Cu over 102m)
hole MB-08-11 intersected 2.21 g/t PGM and Au and 0.54% Cu over 20m (from 126-146m)
100+ m thick intercepts added millions of tonnes during the growth of the Marathon resource

Phillip Walford, President and CEO noted, "Drilling results from the Benton JV ground are turning out to be a winning situation for both companies. These thick intersections will add tonnes quickly to the resource. Marathon has over 117 million tonnes in resource now and the results from the JV are adding to a world class PGM deposit."

Current Drilling

Marathon's drilling on the BCF property has yielded useful information regarding the geology and extent of mineralization. In particular, Marathon's drillholes have extended mineralization boundaries indicated by historical holes and recent drilling completed by Benton.

Hole MB-08-12 is located on section 6150, which represents the boundary between Marathon and Benton's properties. Elimination of the boundary pillar as a result of the JV enables complete extraction of resources, as the boundary pillar would have otherwise tied up substantial tonnes. Multiple wide intersections of mineralization in hole MB-08-12 extend the mineralization downdip.

Marathon holes MB08-09, -10, -11, -12, -13, -14 and -16 all intersected mineralization and have expanded the dimensions of the known mineralization.

Drilling on the BCF property is expected to resume in July. Marathon currently has two rigs drilling on the Marathon property extending the high-grade W horizon and filling in drilling gaps. Drilling of the Marathon and Benton JV properties will assist in expanding the resource.

All of the samples were sent to Accurassay, an accredited laboratory in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to be assayed using fire assay and other standard techniques.

David Good, P.Geo., VP of Exploration is Marathon's Qualified Person in compliance with National Instrument 43-101 with respect to this release. Dr. Good has reviewed the contents for accuracy and has approved this press release on behalf of Marathon.
