Rambus Q3 earns 4c (RMBS) by Chris Kraeuter
Memory chip company Rambus (RMBS) reported third-quarter net income, excluding charges, of $3.9 million, or 4
cents a share, compared with $4.8 million, or 4 cents a share, during the same quarter last year. Four analysts
surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial expected earnings between 3 cents and 5 cents a share. Revenue was $23.3
million compared with $17.8 million during the same quarter last year. During the previous quarter, Rambus reported net
income, excluding charges, of $8.2 million, or 8 cents a share, on revenue of $31.2 million. "With the slowdown in the PC and other markets, we expect the DRAM industry to continue to struggle for the next few quarters," said CEO Geoff Tate, according to a statement. "The only positive news in the industry seems to be RDRAM where very high volume increases more than offset significant price declines."
