Market analysts were dubious that the market has experienced its worst. "I don't think these are going to be the final lows," said Ricky Harrington, technical analyst at Wachovia Securities. Echoed Richard Cripps, chief market strategist for Legg Mason: "There are almost panic-like conditions right now." Indeed, Cripps thinks we may be seeing the beginning stages of capitulation — Street-speak for the intense, high volume sell-off that marks a market bottom and allows buyers to re-enter stocks.
