CANFIELD, OH, Jan. 17, 2002, Infotopia, Inc. (OTC BB:IFTA) ("Infotopia" or the
"Company"), announces that it is preparing for the launch of its newest product line, the
Perfecta Cookware line with the Calphalon / WearEver Division of Newell Rubbermaid Inc., a
leader in the cookware industry.
Ernest Zavoral, President of Infotopia said, "We are currently finalizing the Perfecta
infomercial that we expect to release nationwide in February of 2002. In addition, as part
of this campaign, we plan on offering the cookware directly from a dedicated website
www.perfectacookware.com."
Zavoral also said, "Because of the recent formation of TrenDirect Marketing, Inc.,
("TrenDirect Marketing") a wholly owned subsidiary of Infotopia, that Infotopia will utilize
the newly acquired TrenDirect Marketing Call Center for a portion of calls in response to
the infomercial and utilize its newly acquired media buying group to purchase infomercial
airtime."
As stated in a January 3 news release, TrenDirect Marketing also acquired certain other
assets of Danmark Inc. and Beacon Marketing Services, Inc. Besides the 150-seat call
center, it also obtained a portfolio of licensed products. TrenDirect Marketing acquired the
rights to purchase these assets from Vitaquest International Inc. ("Vitaquest") under an
order of the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Maine.
In connection with this acquisition, TrenDirect Marketing also entered into a license
agreement with Lehigh Drive, LLC, and a subsidiary of Vitaquest. Under this agreement,
Lehigh Drive agreed to license the intellectual property rights of the Chitosolä brand, a
known dietary supplement, to TrenDirect Marketing. The acquisition also includes 26 other
nutritional and dietary supplements from Danmark, Inc and Beacon Marketing Services, Inc.
"We expect that this will be a very active first quarter for Infotopia," stated Daniel J.
Hoyng, Infotopia CEO and Chairman. "Currently Infotopia is exploring its options with regard
to the potential spin-off of TrenDirect Marketing as a separate public entity, which would
result in a declaration of a property dividend to our existing shareholders of any shares
received from the spin-off," said Hoyng. "We anticipate making a final decision on this in
the first quarter."
