Earnings results leave everyone sweating at TSE
The number of companies that announced their earnings results for the first half of fiscal 2003 peaked Friday at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, leaving the TSE press club packed with perspiring reporters and company officials.
A TSE spokesman said air conditioners had been lowered by 2 to 3 degrees to deal with the heat generated by so many people. Yet some were still mopping their brows with their handkerchiefs.
On Friday, 270 companies released midterm results. Some major firms held news conferences while others simply handed out releases.
