Der Markt für Grafikchips wächst dynamisch. Neben der PC-Nachfrage kommt insbesondere durch den Spielekonsolenmarkt Wachstum. Hier ist Nvidia durch die Zulieferung für die neue Xbox von Microsoft gut positioniert. Gute Zahlen kamen zudem gestern vom Marktforschungsinstitut Mercury Research. Demnach hat Nvidia im dritten Quartal den Marktanteil bei Desktop-PCs deutlich ausbauen können. Im dritten Quartal wurden 66% aller Desktop-PCs mit Nvidia Grafikkartenchips ausgerüstet. Im 2. Quartal hatte Nvidias Marktanteil noch bei 53% gelegen, so das NVDA eine deutliche Steigerung um 25% gelungen ist. Daher dürften die Zahlen für das dritte Quartal auch gut ausfallen. Mit einem KGV für 2002 von 40 ist NVDA bei einer PEG-Ratio von 1,2 bewertet. Angesichts der guten Unternehmensentwicklung sehen wir noch Spielraum für die Bewertung. Im DCF-Modell errechnen wir einen fairen Wert von 62,02 Dollar bei einem risikoadjustierten Zinssatz von 7,46%. Somit hätte die Aktie noch Spielraum von rund 25% bis zu ihrem angemessenen DCF-Wert. Outperform. (Warnniveau: 39,00 Dollar).

Gerüchte kann ich nicht kaufen, -derweil räumt ATI kräftig ab. Gehe mir morgen meine Hard- & Software für einen neuen Rechner holen. Rate mal welche Grafikkarte ich nehme ? Tipp: Die Geforce4 ist es nicht!

Evolva ist eines der ersten DirectX-7-Spiele, das T&L-Karten unterstützt.





In Evolva kann die RADEON 8500 ihre gegenüber der Geforce 3 Ti500 höhere Speicherbandbreite ausspielen und zieht dieser deutlich davon. Unter Windows XP bricht die Leistung der ATI-Karte wie bei den NVIDIA-Boards kräftig ein. In niedrigen Auflösungen ist die Ti500 sogar etwas schneller.

die Performance der Grafikkarte. Was nützt es Ati wenn sie die beste Karte haben , sie aber nicht verkaufen können ! Die Masse kauft Stangen PC´s und da stecken mindestens die nächsten 2 Jahre noch Nvidia Karten drin !

Die Computerzeitschriften berichten zur Zeit auf breiter Front von den Eergebnissen der beiden Spitzengrafikkarten. Da Grafikkarten hauptsächlich an PC-Spieler verkauft werden, wird sich die Radeon schon durchsetzen, -bis zum nächsten Benchmark.

Nvidia Director Miller Sold 100,000 Shares In December

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) Director William J. Miller sold 100,000 shares of the company's common stock in late December, according to a Form 4 released Monday by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Miller sold the shares Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, 2001, at prices of $62.04 and $ 63.16 a share. At the end of the month, he directly owned 150,000 shares, the filing said.

The company's shares were recently traded at $60.33.

Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, Calif., designs, develops and markets 3-D graphics processors and related software that provide interactive 3-D graphics to the mainstream PC market.

Ebenfalls gut gefallen hat uns Nvidias nView-Feature. Durch den im Chip integrierten, zweiten RAMDAC kann bei allen GeForce4-Modellen ein weiterer Monitor an die Grafikkarte andocken. Und das ohne - wie es bisher der Fall war und bei GeForce2-MX-TwinView-Varianten oft Verärgerung hervorrief - einen zweiten Wandlerchip extern auf der Platine verbauen zu müssen.

Damit kann auf bequeme Weise das primäre Display geklont beziehungsweise auf den sekundären Monitor ausgeweitet werden - und das alles mit wenigen Klicks.

Mit der Integration von IDCT (invers-diskrete Consinus-Transformation) kann die Prozessorlast beim Abspielen von MPEG2-Videoströmen weiter gesenkt werden. Das "Per-Pixel Adaptive De-Interlacing" soll störende Kammeffekte verhindern - beides hat Nvidia standardmäßig bei allen GeForce4-Varianten in der neuen VPE-Einheit (Video Processing Unit) integriert.

Vor allem dem Konkurrenten ATI werden diese beiden Leckerli überhaupt nicht schmecken, waren diese Features doch bis dato einzig ATIs Rage- und Radeon-Familie vorbehalten.

GeForce4 Ti vs. GeForce4 MX - wie Tag und Nacht?
So positiv, wie sich der große GeForce4-Chip präsentiert, so karg zeichnet sich schon im Vorfeld das Leistungsbild des kleinen Bruders GeForce4 MX ab. Zum einen hat Nvidia den Pixel-Shader auf Lebenserhaltung reduziert, auf einen implementierten Vertex-Shader bei der Sparvariante sogar ganz verzichtet.

Lediglich eine proprietäre T&L-Engine, die sich an der Leistung einer GeForce 256 orientieren soll, ist im neuen Billigheimer drin. Zwar konnten wir uns davon noch kein genaues Bild machen, im Internet kursieren jedoch erste Benchmarks, die eine deutliche Sprache sprechen: So pendelt sich die Leistung einer GeForce4 MX 460 zwischen der einer GeForce3 TI/200 und GeForce2 Pro ein. Das ist unserer Meinung nach - mit Verlaub - zu wenig, um den Namen GeForce4 zu verdienen.

GeForce4-Ti-Karten - auch der Preis treibt Tränen in die Augen
Der Erfolg des neuen 3D-Turbos hängt mal wieder vom Preis ab. Immerhin befinden sich insgsamt 128 MByte Video-RAM auf jeder der Karten. Aufgrund des letzten Preisanstiegs für DDR-RAM-Speicher lässt sich da schon Schlimmes befürchten. Erste Preise für die neuen GeForce4-Karten geben da nur bedingt Entwarnung: So soll Gainwards GeForce4-Ti4600-Karte satte 645 Euro kosten. Wir haben den Taschenrechner zu Hilfe genommen und nochmal auf die "alte" D-Mark umgerechnet: Heraus kamen satte 1.260 Märker. Die tun beim Kauf so richtig weh und gehen weit über die Schmerzgrenze von "Normalverdienenden" - geschweige denn von Schülern...

interessanter Wert, da im Grafik - Chip bereich ein grosser Zukunftsmarkt liegt der bei weitem noch nicht in seiner Blüte Phase ist. Denn: Immer mehr avancieren graphikkarten zum mittelpunkt des Computer. Während der Prozessor für Rechenprozesse zuständig ist, wird der Grafikchip immer mehr zum allround talent. Implementierung von 3d welten und prozessen, mpeg decodierung und vieles mehr sind prozesse die bereits zu grossen Teilen von den grafik chipsätzen übernommen werden. Unterschätzt nicht die 3d technology die zwar im Moment stark boomt aber auch noch einen weiten weg vor sich hat. Ziel ist es, man glaube es kaum, die simualtion reeler (!!) welten - d.h was man auf dem monitor sieht ist wie ein film - echtzeit rendering mit hochleistungsprozessoren (dabei meine ich den Grafikchipsatz). Deshalb werden leistungsfähige Grafikkarten in Zukunft immer mehr gefragt - in dem Spielemarkt sowieso (nvidia -> playstation 2), aber auch in der wissenschaft und der entwicklung - und wohl auch im Militär.
Nvidia liegt auch in meiner watchlist, zudem ich jetzt kontakt zu paar entwicklern von codecult (3d engine entwickler) hab...und die in solchen sachen natürlich genau bescheid wissen:-)

Nvidia Q4 net profit up 134 percent (NVDA)

Graphics chipmaker Nvidia on Thursday reported a 134 percent increase in net earnings for the fourth quarter on the back of revenues that more than doubled. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company earned $73 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $31.1 million, or 19 cents, in the year-ago period. Excluding special items and charges, the company recorded a pro forma profit of $75.5 million, or 43 cents a share -- beating the 34-cent profit expected by analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call. Revenue was $499.9 million, up 129 percent from a year ago. Shares of Nvida (NVDA) were up 24 cents to $62.40 after hours.

Zumindest einige Leute dürften trotz der scheinbar sehr guten Zahlen die Panik bekommen haben: Last Sale knapp 56$ (-10% seit dem Close)!

Und ich hab mich schon geärgert, dass ich zu früh raus bin...

The Audit Committee of the NVIDIA Board of Directors is directing this independent review, with assistance from the law firm of Cooley Godward and the audit firm of KPMG. NVIDIA hat heute eine eigene Programmiersprache für hochauflösende Grafiken vorgestellt, die die Darstellungsqualität verbessern soll und es gleichzeitig ermöglicht, relativ einfach komplexe Grafikszenen zu erstellen.

Die Sprache nennt sich Cg (= C for Graphics) und ist in Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft entwickelt worden. Mit ihr soll es möglich sein, aus den Programmen heraus einfach und effizient die Grafikhardware direkt anzusprechen - und damit kinoähnliche Effekte zu erzielen.

Der große Vorteil der neuen Sprache ist der leichte Syntax, der sich stark an C orientiert. Daher ist für die Programmierer das Erlernen von Cg relativ schnell und leicht möglich. Dank der Kompatibilität zu DirectX 9 dürften neue Effekte schnell realisiert werden.

Cg-Toolkit

Für Entwickler hat NVIDIA zudem ein Toolkit erstellt, dass eine umfangreiche Library, Shadervorlagen, einen Cg-Browser und natürlich einen Compiler beinhaltet. Das Paket soll auf dem The Gathering 2 verteilt werden und zum Download zur Verfügung stehen.

Die Hersteller von Grafiksoftware sind jedenfalls von der Entwicklung begeistert. Führende Firmen wie Alias|Wavefront, Discreet, Luxology und Softimage haben angekündigt, diese neue "fast-Schnittstelle" ab dem Sommer zu unterstützen, jedoch wohl zunächst über zusätzliche Plugins.
