Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet company,
today announced relationships with four rich media technology leaders,
supplementing the current Yahoo! Rich Media product suite. This
announcement, made at the ANA/AAAA Marketing Conference, underscores
Yahoo!'s leadership in delivering integrated marketing solutions to
customers, including unprecedented use of rich media as part of
comprehensive campaigns. Yahoo! will now work directly with leading
companies Eyeblaster, EyeWonder, Point.Roll and Unicast to incorporate
the companies' respective technologies into the Yahoo! network and
sales channel. Yahoo! Rich Media enables marketers to use the most
advanced tools for online campaigns, including streaming audio and
video, floating ads, expandable ads and other interactive units. While
Yahoo! has previously offered these and other technologies on its
network, these agreements facilitate cooperation between Yahoo! and
the companies which will provide Yahoo!'s clients with seamless
service when utilizing these technologies.
Yahoo! will work directly with Eyeblaster, EyeWonder, Point.Roll
and Unicast to sell and implement the companies' technologies on
behalf of marketers. These direct relationships facilitate a wide
variety of rich media solutions for marketing campaigns, in order to
support marketers' key objectives of increased brand awareness and
consumer interaction with messages.
"We are at a key juncture in the industry, and there is
acknowledgement that the Internet is a key ingredient in successful
integrated marketing campaigns. Yahoo! Rich Media takes marketers one
giant step further in supporting groundbreaking creative executions
that can generate consumer interaction and increase brand awareness,
as several industry studies have shown," said Wenda Harris Millard,
chief sales officer, Yahoo!.
"By working directly with industry leaders Eyeblaster, EyeWonder,
Point.Roll and Unicast, Yahoo! will provide marketers with
cost-effective, turnkey solutions in developing leading online
campaigns. Marketers who want high-impact, creative executions on a
global platform come to Yahoo! and through these relationships we are
strengthening the infrastructure to support our clients' needs," added
Millard.
"Yahoo!'s commitment not only benefits our roster of 175 agencies,
but can be a catalyst for online advertising overall," said Joe
Apprendi, Eyeblaster's EVP, sales and marketing. Eyeblaster
(www.eyeblaster.com) provides an online ad management platform that
allows agencies and advertisers to independently create and manage a
wide variety of rich media formats including floating ads, window ads,
expandable banners, and commercial breaks.
"EyeWonder allows advertisers to stream their TV advertising
messages online with scale and efficiency, surpassing even broadcast
TV, and Yahoo!'s global network is the ideal platform. Advertisers can
use existing creative to reach desired audiences who are spending
increased time online. The unique ability of video and audio
commercials to create emotional connections combined with the
interactive elements of online advertising, including direct buying
opportunities, is a logical and desired next step in the evolution of
online media," said John Vincent, chief executive officer, EyeWonder
Inc., developers of instant streaming video over the Internet,
intranets, or email without the need for media players.
Beginning today and running for two weeks on the Yahoo! network,
The Coca-Cola Company will utilize EyeWonder technology to promote the
Coca-Cola Youth Partnership program. With the intention of extending
the current television message to the Internet, a streaming video
commercial will be available on Yahoo!.
"By offering advertisers Point.Roll's dynamic, non-intrusive,
user-initiated rich media in place of any size banner ad, Yahoo! is
once again leading the industry by taking action and enabling
advertisers to deliver effective page-based ads. Yahoo! gets it --
creative matters." said Point.Roll's chief executive officer, Jules
Gardner. Point.Roll's (www.pointroll.com) expandable ads offer
advertisers additional space in an ad unit to communicate multiple
messages, all of which the user can access with a simple roll of the
mouse.
"Advertisers have two basic demands of this industry: the
flexibility to integrate all of their traditional marketing messages
online with efficiency and effectiveness, and second, those messages
must be able to reach their audience in volume," said Allie Savarino,
senior vice president, Global Marketing & Partner Relations, Unicast.
"The power our SUPERSTITIAL(r) Format Suite gives advertisers to
create television-like ads online combined with Yahoo!'s exceptional
reach is a persuasive opportunity for advertisers."
Yahoo! is a recognized leader in providing industry-leading online
marketing solutions. In the December 2001 issue of Advertising Age,
Yahoo! was recognized by a panel of leading advertising agencies as
the leader among major portals in knowledge, creativity and overall
service to marketers. The February 2002 issue of Media named Yahoo!
the best portal for marketers to work with in developing online
marketing campaigns.
