Sinofert (297, $5.29) 12M Target $8.0 BUY
Event: Sinofert’s share price declined 25% in the past three days.
The NDRC announced on 18 April that the sale of imported potash by Sino-Agri and Sinofert to fertilizer distributors in China will be subjected to an operating margin of 3% while the sale of imported potash to compound fertilizer producers will be capped at operating margin of 5%.
A sharp decline in Sinofert’s share price by 25% in three days should have fully digested the adverse effect of the new policy on Sinofert. We remain bullish about long term growth of Sinofert given its leading market position.
Sinofert is still negotiating with other suppliers including BPC, ICL and APC regarding the purchase of more potash fertilizers.
We will review our earnings forecast for Sinofert after the purchases are concluded.
We tentatively maintain our EPS forecast at $0.32 in 2008 and $0.42 in 2009, up 50% and 31% yoy respectively.
This translates into a forward PER of 20.7x in 2008 and 15.8x in 2009 with two-year EPS CAGR of 40% from 2007 to 2009. Valuation is cheap in our view.
Maintain BUY on Sinofert with a 12-month target price of $8.0 based on 25x 2008 earnings
