TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2012) -

Century Iron Mines Corporation (TSX:FER) ("Century" or "Century Iron" or the "Company") announces today that it has notified Augyva Mining Resources Inc. ("Augyva") that it has increased its interest from a 51% interest to a 65% interest in the Duncan Lake Iron Project (the "Project") having expended a further and final $14 million on the Project under an option and joint venture agreement with Augyva dated May 2008 a copy of which can be found on the Company's website www.centuryiron.com.

Confirmation of completion of the $14 million earn-in is subject to customary financial review by Augyva.

Ressourcenschätzung des Joint Venture-Partners: Champion Iron Mines – DSO-Vorkommen von 15,6 Mio. Tonnen auf dem Attikamagen-Projekt

Noch 44% hält die kanadische Eisenerzgesellschaft Champion Iron Mines (WKN A1J3LZ) an ihrer Attikamagen-Liegenschaft, nachdem man die Mehrheit daran an Century Iron Mines (WKN A1JL1P) übertragen hatte. Ende vergangener Woche legte Century nun eine erste Ressourcenschätzung für das Joyce Lake-Projekt auf dem Attikamagen-Areal vor.

Dabei handelt es sich um ein so genanntes DSO-Vorkommen (Direct Shipping Ore), also um Eisenerz, das auf Grund seiner hohen Eisengehalte nicht oder kaum noch bearbeitet werden muss, bevor es ausgeliefert werden kann.
