Lehman cuts ests. for infrastructure software sector (BMC, BEAS, PSFT, VRTS, SAP, ADVS, MERQ, MUSE, EMBT) by Tomi Kilgore
Analyst Neil Herman at Lehman Bros. lowered earnings and revenue estimates for infrastructure software companies given feedback that the September quarter would be "disappointing" and that information technology spending in the December quarter is likely to be "quite anemic." He added that although valuations in the software sector appear attractive, stocks would likely still come under pressure as consensus Wall Street estimates are lowered further. Among the companies targeted for estimates cuts by Herman were PeopleSoft (PSFT), Veritas Software (VRTS), BEA Systems (BEAS), Mercury Interactive (MERQ), SAP (SAP), Micromuse (MUSE), BMC Software (BMC), Advent Software (ADVS) and Embarcadero Technologies (EMBT).
