Details of first UEFA Executive Committee meeting of 2002
EURO 2004™ kicks off with Qualifying Round Draw at Europarque in Santa Maria da Feira
The UEFA Executive Committee will hold its first meeting of the new year on 23 and 24 January
2002, at the Porto Palacio Hotel in Porto, Portugal.
The meeting will commence at 14:00 on Wednesday 23 January and is scheduled to end on
Thursday 24 January at 12 noon. A media briefing after the meeting is scheduled for 12:15.
The main topics for discussion are:
· Decision on the new agency contract for the marketing rights of the UEFA Champions League
2003/04 to 2005/06
· Approval of the procedures and the programme for the EURO 2004™ Qualifying Round Draw
· Status report on the preparations for the EURO 2004™ final tournament
· Consideration of European-wide transfer periods
· Status report on the Statement of Objections by the European Commission to the sale of UEFA
Champions League TV rights
· Approval of the Agenda and Programme for the XXVI Ordinary UEFA Congress to be held in
Stockholm on 25 April 2002
The UEFA Executive Committee meeting will be followed on Thursday 24 January 2002 by the
draw ceremony for the First Qualifying Round of the 2002/03 UEFA Youth Competitions -
European Under-17 and European Under-19 Championships - also to be held at the Porto Palacio
Hotel in Porto at 17:00 hours local time. Media representatives wishing to attend these youth draws
are requested to register their interest to UEFA Media Services via the contact numbers at the top
of the page. Media places for the youth draws will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
On Friday 25 January 2002, the draw for the EURO 2004™ Qualifying Round will take place at
