Gruss

Upside BreakDow breaks consolidation to upside, trends higher for the session. From prior commentary, "...The fact that the Dow has formed a consolidation at the highs implies a likely continuation in the medium term. An upside break through the top of the range at 10,130 will likely spark such a move tomorrow..." The Dow got the upside break through the top of the tight consolidation at 10,130 this morning, sparking another sharp advance, as seen in the 15 and 60 Minute Charts. The Dow held strong for much of the session, gaining 95 points by the Close. The 15 Minute Chart shows the Dow looks to be forming the framework for another continuation pattern at the highs of today's upmove, which is bullish. Look for the index to hold within the boundaries of 10,150 and 10,225 before another solid move is seen. A break from this range will likely make for another solid move in the direction of the break. Short Term Dow Short term, the Dow has formed a clear trend line beneath the lows of the recent three-day upmove, seen in the 5 Minute Chart. A downside break of the line at 10,170 will likely make for weakness tomorrow morning. Medium Term Dow In the medium term, we entered the market Long this morning at 10,191, but stopped out at the entry due to the Breakeven Rule. We are still out of the market and will watch 10,230 up, and 10,150 down; using 20 point stops. NASDAQ & S&P The S&P and NASDAQ each moved higher out of their respective ranges this morning, making for strength for the session. Look for another continuation pattern to form to indicate further strength. * Summary The Dow got a solid upside break from the consolidation this morning, which sparked strength for the session. The Dow should be considered bullish at this point, especially if it continues to hold above 10,150. A break of this level will indicate a likely pull-back within the current uptrend.
