London (vwd) - Cable & Wireless plc, London, ist angeblich an einer Übernahme von Exodus Communications interessiert. Wie der "Daily Telegraph" (Sonntagausgabe) berichtet, wird das US-Web-Hosting-Unternehmen mit rund 4,7 Mrd USD bewertet. Cable & Wireless habe zum Ausdruck gebracht, im Web-Hosting-Bereich Zukäufe tätigen zu wollen, da diese Aktivitäten den Nutzen ihrer internationalen Breitbandnetze steigern würden, heißt es.

...da dieses Gerücht schon seit Tagen den EXDS-Kurs hochtreibt.
Da hätte sich das (an der Übernahme) beteiligte Investmenthaus nicht mit Ruhm beklekkert....und deshalb ist m.E. auch nichts dran an dem Gerücht !

Bereits vor mittlerweile 5 Tagen am 17.04.2001 berichteten wir, daß Gerüchte um eine mögliche Übernahme von Exodus Communications (EXDS) durch Cable&Wireless bekanntgeworden seien.

Heute berichtet nun auch das Handelsblatt von diesem Gerücht, wonach eine englische Zeitschrift erneut von diesem gerücht berichtet hätte.

Für meinen Geschmack kommt das Wort "Gerücht" schon ein bißchen oft vor, findet ihr nicht auch?

Ich halte das ebnfalls für ein GERÜCHT!

Exodus rebuffs C&W takeover approach -newspaper
LONDON, April 23 (Reuters) - Exodus Communications Inc (NasdaqNM:EXDS - news), the world's largest manager of company websites, has rebuffed a takeover approach from Britain's Cable & Wireless Plc (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: CW.L), the Financial Times online news service reported on Monday.

The newspaper cited sources close to the discussions as saying Exodus was unwilling to consider the approach as it believed its current stock market valuation was too low.

Exodus is among a number of U.S. Internet companies seen by analysts as potential targets for the C&W. The British group will have around 6 billion pounds ($8.6 billion) in cash by the autumn following the sale of its Australian business, and has said it wants to reshape itself into a provider of Internet services.
